GIRLS BASKETBALL: Centennial wins big over California power

The Centennial girls basketball team, ranked No. 4 in the nation by USA Today’s expert rankings, picked up a 70-46 victory over No. 2 Clovis West (Calif.) at the St. Mary’s Showcase in Stockton, California on Monday, behind four Bulldogs with double-digit point totals.

Melanie Isbell led Centennial (20-2) with 17 points and also had six rebounds. Justice Ethridge recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who lost to Clovis West at the Nike Tournament of Champions on Dec. 20 in Phoenix.

Jayden Eggleston had 12 points and Aja Phoumiphat scored 11 for the Bulldogs. Teammate Pam Wilmore had six points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Agoura (Calif.) 35, Spring Valley 31 — At Los Angeles, Essence Booker scored 17 points, but the Grizzlies fell to the Chargers.
