GIRLS BASKETBALL: Cabanero nails six 3-pointers as Vikings top Rams

Gabrielle Cabanero made six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points Wednesday to help Valley’s girls basketball team to a 65-57 win at Rancho.

Kennedy Wharton had 26 points for the Vikings, who led 25-20 at the half and expanded the margin to 42-32 after three quarters.

Maureen Macato paced the Rams with 20 points, and teammate LaKissa Martin added 10 points.

Shadow Ridge 57, Sierra Vista 46 — At Shadow Ridge, Kaila Hurley scored 16 points, and Jaylan Johnson added 14 points to help the Mustangs to victory over the Mountain Lions.

Aubree Nish contributed 10 points for Shadow Ridge, which used a 21-9 second-quarter run to pull away.

Kelsey Jimenez had 21 points, and teammate Kennedy Nieves scored 13 points for Sierra Vista.

Green Valley 72, Silverado 37 — At Green Valley, Maggie Manwarren had 26 points, six assists and five steals as the Gators routed the Skyhawks.

Ellee Barton had 10 points for Green Valley.

Deja Siaki led Silverado with 12 points.

Coronado 58, Eldorado 44 — At Eldorado, Dajah Washington scored 25 points to power the Cougars over the Sundevils.

Grace Green added 18 points, and Karlie Thorn scored 11 for Coronado, which used an 11-4 spurt to end the game.

DeNisheun Jackson scored 15 points and Cecilley Hall 12 for Eldorado, which got 11 points from Deasia Walker.

Liberty 73, Del Sol 30 — At Liberty, Paris Strawther scored 15 points to lead nine scorers as the Patriots shut down the Dragons.

Jazmin O’Bannon and Jamellia Clark each added 10 points for Liberty.

Anna Ozuna had eight points for Del Sol.

Foothill 65, Basic 35 — At Foothill, Taylor Turney scored 20 points, and Kelsey McFarland added 14 points as the Falcons routed the Wolves.

Gabby Doxtator supplied 12 points for Foothill, which sprinted to a 32-15 halftime lead and held Basic to three points in the third quarter.

Jayla Brown and Dana Deloney each scored 11 points for Basic.

Palo Verde 64, Spring Valley 37 — At Palo Verde, Alyssa Siqueiros scored 14 points, and Brooklyn Cruz had 13 points as the Panthers downed the Grizzlies.

Jackie Angue added 10 points for Palo Verde.

Shania Davis led Spring Valley with 10 points.

Canyon Springs 69, Las Vegas 21 — At Canyon Springs, Alexia Thrower had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Cherise Benyon had 18 points, 11 assists and seven steals as the Pioneers routed the Wildcats.

Trimece Thomas had six points and nine rebounds for Canyon Springs, which sprinted to a 48-16 halftime lead.

Shaleea Butler scored 13 points for Las Vegas.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
