GIRLS BASKETBALL: Akins steps up big for Longhorns in comeback win over the Bengals

Legacy’s Justice Akins scored 14 points, and the Longhorns rallied from a 27-18 halftime deficit to top host Bonanza 48-44 on Wednesday.

Legacy’s leading scorer, Carolina Rahkonen, was held to just five points. The Longhorns took their first lead with 1:40 left in the fourth quarter.

Tanganika Hunt led Bonanza with 24 points, and teammate Brooklyn Savage scored 12.

Virgin Valley 59, Sunrise Mountain 42 — At Virgin Valley, Abbie Barnard scored 30 points to guide the Bulldogs to victory over the Miners.

Kourtney Metzger supplied 12 rebounds, and Becca Bramlage added 10 rebounds for Virgin Valley.

Brittany Veal scored 21 points to lead Sunrise Mountain.

Desert Oasis 51, Cimarron-Memorial 42 — At Desert Oasis, Thessa Fernando had 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Mikayla Kirby scored 13 points as the Diamondbacks downed the Spartans.

Ashlynn Sharp provided 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals for Desert Oasis.

Niara Smith scored 13 points for Cimarron.

Clark 59, Western 38 — At Clark, Bobbi Floyd had 28 points, 18 rebounds and nine blocks to help the Chargers to a win over the Warriors.

Johnice Bland had 13 points, and Ci’Quadya Belser supplied six points and 14 assists for Clark, which raced to a 31-15 halftime lead.

Destiny Gonzalez led Western with 22 points.

Cheyenne 41, Mojave 22 — At Cheyenne, Alexcia Weatherly scored 13 points to lead the Desert Shields past the Rattlers.

D’Hari Lomax added 10 points and nine rebounds, and Bria Buchanan grabbed 12 rebounds for Cheyenne.

Rayena Real had eight points to lead Mojave.

Chaparral 49, Tech 32 At Chaparral, Marcia Hawkins scored 19 points, and the Cowboys used a 20-9 third-quarter run on their way to a win over the Roadrunners.

Abigail Delgado added 10 points for Chaparral.

Clarissa Szluha led Tech with 11 points.

Faith Lutheran 62, Pahrump Valley 36 — At Pahrump, Dani Tharaldson scored 25 points to help the Crusaders rout the Trojans.

Haley Vinson supplied 12 points for Faith Lutheran, which led 21-13 at halftime and outscored Pahrump 23-8 in the third quarter.

Shayla Dance had 15 points for Pahrump Valley.

Boulder City 51, Moapa Valley 12 — At Boulder City, Katlyn Daly scored 13 points, and Whitney Barlow added 11 points to lead the Eagles to an easy win over the Pirates.

Kyla Shumway had six points to lead Moapa Valley.

Agassi Prep 60, Laughlin 35 — At Agassi Prep, Javoulaee Green had 14 points, and Kareema Webb scored 13 as the Stars rolled past the Cougars.

Agassi Prep outscored Laughlin 42-17 in the second half.

Cassie Beggs led Laughlin with 14 points.
