Foothill Girls Basketball 2012-2013 Capsule

Head coach: Eric Kruger, first season

2011-12 record: 25-6 (14-0 Southeast)

Returning letter winners (starters): Two (zero)

Top players: G/F Kailani Killebrew (Jr.), G Anaya Rodisha (Jr.)

Outlook: The Falcons had the best season in school history last year, advancing to the state semifinals.

But all five starters and the bulk of the roster are gone, taking with them 60 points per game.

Killebrew (2.4 points, 6.5 rebounds per game) and Rodisha (7.0 ppg, 2.2 assists per game) are all that remains for new coach Kruger, who also benefits from the return of RaeAnn Brems, who sat out last season with a knee injury.

"We're hoping that our returning juniors can step up and fill leadership roles that normally would be reserved for seniors," Kruger said. "Kailani and Anaya have the most on-court experience, so we are looking for them to guide the younger, less experienced players early on.

"We have a lot of work to do if we want to return to the level that coach (Mike) Collins brought the program to. This is a young group with a lot of energy and passion for the game. We have to improve every day and not hang our hat on what happened last year. If we can do that, I think we can be pretty competitive."
