ROUNDUP: Tucker, Pioneers swat Longhorns’ upset bid

Kashion Tucker blocked a potential game-winning shot with less than three seconds to play Tuesday as Canyon Springs’ boys basketball team held off visiting Legacy, 63-62.

Shaquille Carr scored 20 points for the defending Class 4A state champion Pioneers, who trailed 45-40 entering the fourth quarter.

Ladarrell Mongkholtham added 15 points, and Gerad Davis scored 13 for Canyon Springs, which got seven rebounds from Tucker.

Zach Lane and Cardon Harris each tallied 16 points to pace the Longhorns. Chris Cook added 12 points, and David Jefferies scored 11 for Legacy.

Centennial 96, Green Valley 88 — At Centennial, Marcus Allen scored 11 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter, and the Bulldogs rallied from a 51-44 halftime deficit to down the Gators.

Malcolm Allen added 21 points, and Evan Martin and Neiman Lee each scored 16 points for Centennial, which got 11 rebounds from Dallin Layton.

Michael Thornton drained five 3-pointers and scored 30 points to lead the Gators, who made 11 of 19 3-pointers.

Devan Kohn added 20 points for Green Valley, which got 18 points from Durrell McDonald and 12 points from Lorenzo Jarvis.

Eldorado 74, Basic 64 — At Basic, DaQuon Thrower scored 18 points, and Markieth Floyd supplied 17 points to help the Sundevils down the Wolves.

Dwayne Tillman added 13 points for Eldorado, which used a 21-8 third-quarter outburst to pull away.

Devonte Boyd and Lorenzo Lucero scored 14 points apiece, and Isaiah Villaros and Andrew Lopez each tallied 11 points for Basic.

Silverado 58, Desert Oasis 45 — At Desert Oasis, Ruben Jackson scored 19 points, and David Ware added 18 as the visiting Skyhawks pulled away from the Diamondbacks.

Anthony Lianzo scored 12 points, and Taylor Bowen had nine to lead Desert Oasis.

Sunrise Mountain 66, Boulder City 63 — At Boulder City, Derrick Love scored 16 points to help the Miners edge the Eagles in overtime.

Jovon Kirtley added 10 points for Sunrise Mountain.

Nate Hafen led Boulder City with 17 points, and Ryan McQuillan added 10 points for the Eagles.

Chaparral 64, Virgin Valley 50 — At Mesquite, Kamron Alexander tallied 16 of his 26 points in the second half as the Cowboys downed the Bulldogs.

Raequan Charington added 11 points for Chaparral, which took a 46-40 lead into the fourth quarter before pulling away.

Dee Bowler paced Virgin Valley with 17 points.

Tech 41, Mountain View 39 — At Tech, Tyler Walker scored 14 points as the Roadrunners held off the Saints.

Manuel Vieites added 10 points for Tech.

Matt Larson scored 11 points to pace Mountain View.

Spring Mountain 41, Laughlin 37 — At Saville Middle School, Roemello Brandon scored 17 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the Eagles to an overtime win over the Cougars.

Marquion White added 11 points for Spring Mountain, which trailed 17-12 at halftime before rallying.
Colton Hill had 20 points for Laughlin.

Sandy Valley 72, The Meadows JV 52 — At The Meadows, Ryan Hagan had 31 points to lead the Sidewinders to the win over the Mustangs’ junior varstiy.

Brandon Hughes added 13 points and Daniel Soto 12 for Sandy Valley, which led 24-5 after one quarter.
