ROUNDUP: Scott, Canyon Springs boys fend off Chaparral

Nick Scott had 15 points Thursday to help Canyon Springs’ boys basketball team hold on for a 56-52 win at Chaparral.

Shaquille Carr added 11 points, and Gerad Davis scored 10 for the Pioneers.

Kevin Morgan paced the Cowboys with 20 points, and teammate Kamron Alexander scored 12.

Valley 82, Eldorado 64 — At Eldorado, Chris Swanson scored 17 points as the Vikings topped the Sundevils.

Keanu Peters added 15 points, and Ryan Johnson and Caleb Carter each scored 14 points for Valley.

Eldorado’s Da’Quon Thrower had 23 points, and D.J. Billingsley scored 14 for the Sundevils.

Las Vegas 90, Rancho 57 — At Las Vegas, Juwan Major and Olynsso Pratt each had 16 points to lead five Wildcats in double figures as they topped the Rams.

Josh Rucker had 13 points, Traven Yancey scored 12, and Aziz Leeks 10 for Las Vegas.

Rancho’s R-Mond Hill led all scorers with 22 points. Ronnie Thomas added 13 points for the Rams.

Desert Pines 66, Sunrise Mountain 34 — At Desert Pines, Donavin Wright led a balanced attack with 10 points, and the Jaguars used a 36-14 run during the middle two quarters to pull away from the Miners.

Eight other players scored at least five points for Desert Pines.

Fharhaad Zinnamon led Sunrise Mountain with 17 points.

Spring Mountain 70, Oasis Christian 50 — At Oasis Christian, Tomoshea Edwards came off the bench to score 23 points as the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs.

Roemello Brandon added 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Marquion White scored 12 for Spring Mountain.

Brandon Chamblee led Oasis Christian with 18 points.

GIRLS

Valley 66, Eldorado 43 — At Eldorado, Kennedy Wharton scored 29 points as the Vikings wrapped up the Northeast League’s No. 3 seed for the Sunrise Region playoffs by downing the Sundevils.

Gabby Cabanero added 13 points for Valley.
Deniseun Jackson led Eldorado with 25 points.

Canyon Springs 58, Chaparral 20 — At Chaparral, Cherise Beynon had 17 points as the Pioneers cruised past the Cowboys to complete a perfect Northeast League season.

Kiara Washington added 13 points for Canyon Springs.

Unique Wilson led the Cowboys with nine points.

Desert Pines 48, Sunrise Mountain 28 — At Desert Pines, Leslie White scored 20 points, and the Jaguars outscored the Miners 24-10 in the second half to post the victory.

Kiana Alexander added 19 points for Desert Pines.

Elise Marshall led Sunrise Mountain with eight points.

Lund 48, Adelson School 4 — At Lund, Kelsey Reed had 13 points, and the Mustangs held the Lions scoreless in the final three quarters.

Melynda Boren added 12 points for Lund.
