Roundup: Noah Taitz leads Bishop Gorman in rout in Reno tournament

Noah Taitz led Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team with 23 points Friday as it defeated Birmingham (California) 85-44 in the Wild West Shootout in Reno.

Jamal Bey added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Gaels, and teammate Isaiah Cottrell had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocked shots. Chance Michels had nine points and seven assists for Gorman.

Kobe Cortez and Devonaire Doutrive each scored 10 points for the Patriots.

Folsom (Calif.) 98, Liberty 64 — At Reno, Mason Forbes had 28 points as the Bulldogs rolled past the Patriots in the Wild West Shootout.

The 6-foot-9-inch Forbes scored all of his points in the first three quarters as Folsom took a 76-47 lead entering the fourth.

Julian Strawther led Liberty with 22 points, and teammate Kobe Stroughter scored 14.

Canyon Springs 73, Shadow Ridge 45 — At Shadow Ridge, Kevin Legardy scored 19 points to lead the Pioneers in a rout of the Mustangs.

Kayvon Alexander added 10 points for Canyon Springs, which led 38-21 at halftime.

Garin Macfarlane scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs.

Eldorado 71, Tech 50 — At Eldorado, Jalen Malone scored 15 points to lead the Sundevils over the Roadrunners.

Jordan Carter added 11 points for Eldorado, which outscored Tech 21-6 in the third quarter to pull away.

Jurelle Orbino led Tech with 15 points.

Faith Lutheran 86, Innovations International 56 — At Faith Lutheran, Brevin Walter scored 13 of his 15 points in the game’s first four minutes as the Crusaders topped the Ambassadors.

David Heckard and Dalton Kincaid each added 12 points, and Jaylen Fox scored 11 for Faith Lutheran, which led 31-15 after the first quarter.

Justin Evans led Innovations with 25 points, and teammate Jordan Allison scored 14.

Desert Oasis 105, Tucson (Ariz.) 87 — At Yuma, Arizona, Jacob Heese poured in 38 points as the Diamondbacks topped the Badgers in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Manny Mitchell added 21 points, and Kamari Burnside scored 20 for Desert Oasis, which set a school record for points in a game.

Nate Van added 14 points for the Diamondbacks, who led 31-22 after one quarter.

Angel Marin led Tucson with 21 points.

Desert Oasis 91, Yuma Catholic (Ariz.) 41 — At Yuma, Arizona, Heese scored 28 points as the Diamondbacks rolled past the Shamrocks in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Mitchell added 17 points, and Burnside scored 14 for Desert Oasis, which outscored Yuma Catholic 33-11 in the second quarter to take a 55-24 halftime lead.

Parley Kinkham led the Shamrocks with 13 points.

Findlay Prep 67, Orangeville Prep (Canada) 48 — At Benton, Kentucky, Bol Bol had 20 points on 9-for-13 shooting to lead the Pilots past Orangeville Prep in the Marshall County Hoopfest.

Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 64, Mountain View 46 — At Yuma, Arizona, Terrence Brooks scored 27 points, but the Saints fell to the Hawks in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Tyrell Brooks scored 16 points for the Saints.

Sam Miner scored 15, and Joel Adetiba had 14 points to lead the Hawks.

Mountain View 64, Yuma (Ariz.) 51 — At Yuma, Arizona, Tyrell Brooks led all scorers with 30 points and had 13 rebounds as he led the Saints to a victory over the Criminals in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Mountain View’s Terrence Brooks had 21 points, five steals, and seven rebounds.

Cesar Tapia and Tyler Hamilton each scored 11 points for the Criminals, and teammate Gio Grant scored 10 points.

Needles 68, Joseph City (Ariz.) 37 — At Williams, Arizona, Irving Juarez scored 14 points, and Samaj Howell had 12 points to lead the Mustangs to a victory over the Wildcats in the Williams Holiday Classic.

Jayden Yeager and Trey Tsosie each scored 10 points for Needles.

Needles 72, Grand Canyon (Ariz.) 36 — At Williams, Arizona, Juarez scored 20 points and led the Mustangs to a victory over the Phantoms in the Williams Holiday Classic.

Needles’ Dillon Darrow scored 12 points, and Tsosie scored 11 points.

Pahranagat Valley 64, Eureka 34 — At Wells, Culen Highbe had 22 points to lead the Panthers past the Vandals in the Wells Rural Electric Classic.

Pahranagat Valley outscored Eureka 22-7 in the second quarter to take a 36-15 halftime lead.

Pahranagat Valley 58, Wells 20 — At Wells, the Panthers jumped out to a 51-16 halftime lead and rolled past the Leopards in the Wells Rural Electric Classic.

Richard Lewis scored 12 to lead Pahranagat Valley.

Wells 60, Round Mountain 26 — At Wells, the Leopards used a 20-7 first-quarter burst and a 20-2 third-quarter run to put away the Knights in the Wells Rural Electric Classic.

Baker (Calif.) 80, Sandy Valley 55 — At Baker, California, Max Robledo scored 32 points to lead the Braves over the Sidewinders.

Brandon Eastham had 24 points for Sandy Valley, and teammate Ryan Cripe scored 15.

Beatty 51, Trona (Calif.) 36 — At Beatty, the Hornets defeated the Tornadoes.

Lake Mead Holiday Classic

Virgin Valley 51, Lincoln County 50 — At Lake Mead, Jayden Perkins scored a game-high 22 points as the Bulldogs edged the Lynx.

Cade Anderson had 16 points for the Bulldogs, who got all their scoring from four players.

Elijah Harr and Noah Smith each scored 13 points for the Lynx, and teammate Kobe Walker scored 11.

Lake Mead 43, Calvary Chapel 38 — At Lake Mead, Kaiaokumulani Madela and Donte Bristol each scored 10 points to help the Eagles beat the Lions.

The Eagles scored 24 points in the second half to break a 19-19 halftime tie.

Jessie Ramos and Zeus Inguanzo scored 10 apiece for Calvary Chapel.

The Meadows 53, Lake Mead 49 — At Lake Mead, Allen Fridman and Obinna Ezeanolue each scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs past the Eagles.

Joe Epstein added 11 points for The Meadows, which led 32-25 at halftime.

Joshua Thorell scored 23 points to lead the Eagles.

Boulder City 59, SLAM Academy 41 — At Lake Mead, Carson Balistere scored 21 points to lead the Eagles past the Bulls.

Derrick Thomas scored 13 points, and Clayton Pendleton added 11 points for the Eagles.

Jalen Cunningham scored 16 points to lead the Bulls.

Fernley 70, Moapa Valley 56 — At Lake Mead, Nathaniel Thompson led all scorers with 18 points, but the Pirates fell to the Vaqueros.

Derek Reese and Lucas Walker each scored 10 for the Pirates.

Rei Robinette led Fernley with 16 points.
