ROUNDUP: Gorman boys rally past Toros to claim crown

Trey Kennedy tallied 13 of his 17 points in the second half Saturday to help Bishop Gorman’s boys basketball team rally for a 45-35 win over Mountain View (Ariz.) in the championship game of the Wild West Shootout in Reno.

Tournament MVP Noah Robotham had 12 points for the Gaels, who trailed 26-21 at the half and 32-31 entering the fourth quarter. Stephen Zimmerman had six points, eight rebounds and seven blocks for Gorman.

Rock Shill and Payton Dastrup each had nine points for the Toros.

Bishop Gorman 71, Galena 29 — At Reno, Robotham poured in 24 points, and the Gaels used a 48-12 run in the middle two quarters to rout the Grizzlies and advance to the title game.

Zimmerman added 12 points, eight rebounds and six blocks for Gorman, which led 70-26 after three quarters.

E.J. Poulsen led Galena with nine points.

Orange Lutheran (Calif.) 59, Faith Lutheran 41 — At Orange, Calif., Payton Banks scored 20 points, and the Lancers pulled away in the second half to down the Crusaders.

Sam Stevens and Stuart Engs each had 10 points for Faith Lutheran, which trailed only 26-19 at the half.

Santa Monica (Calif.) 78, Legacy 51 — At Santa Monica, Calif., California signee Jordan Mathews tallied 25 points to lead the Vikings by the Longhorns.

Chris Smith added 18 points for Santa Monica, which led 24-11 after one quarter.

Benjie Harris paced Legacy with 20 points.
