ROUNDUP: Carter, Viking boys hand Pioneers first in-state loss

Valley’s Caleb Carter had 20 points and 16 rebounds Monday as the Vikings defeated visiting Canyon Springs, 68-65 in overtime.

It was the first loss to a team from Nevada by Canyon Springs (22-2, 11-1 Northeast League), which was riding a 10-game winning streak.

Valley (20-4, 10-2) led 46-37 entering the fourth quarter before the Pioneers rallied to send the game into overtime.

Christian Kessee added 11 points, and Jarrett Coleman scored 10 for the Vikings.

Canyon Springs’ Jared Brandon had 22 points before fouling out in overtime. The Pioneers other starting post player, Chris Willis, also fouled out in the extra period.

Valley outrebounded Canyon Springs, 39-31.

Michael Thompson added 19 points, and Donald Anderson scored 11 for the Pioneers.

Desert Pines 45, Las Vegas 43 — At Las Vegas High, Leon Saunders scored 12 points, and the Jaguars rallied from a four-point deficit in the final 40 seconds.

Joshua Velarde added 11 points and Chancellor Davis 10 for Desert Pines.

Hasaan Henderson scored 12, George Sanico supplied 11 points, and Travon Langston contributed 10 points for Las Vegas.

Western 75, Spring Valley 61 — At Western, Aaron Buckley scored 20 of his 30 points in the second half to lead the Warriors past the Grizzlies.

Buckley also grabbed eight rebounds.

Landon White added 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Cedric Gerideau scored 11 points for Western, which got 10 rebounds from Sir Washington.

Deshaun Nowlin paced Spring Valley with 13 points. Sean Clancey added 12 points, and Gary Payton and Justin Profit each scored 10 for the Grizzlies.

Mojave 54, Shadow Ridge 51 — At Mojave, Andrew Lotts had 25 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and five steals as the Rattlers edged the Mustangs.

Quintarus Harper added eight points and five assists for the Rattlers.

Nick Flowers led Shadow Ridge with 15 points, and teammate Sam Smith added 11 points.

Chaparral 56, Rancho 48 — At Chaparral, Zach Kirschbaum had 16 points and 19 rebounds to help the Cowboys defeat the Rams.

Devonte’ White supplied 11 points and five rebounds, and Jermaine Neal added 10 points and two assists for Chaparral.

R’mond Hill led Rancho with 13 points, and Ciaran Subira had 10 points for the Rams.

Palo Verde 72, Legacy 64 — At Palo Verde, Bronston Abad scored all eight of his points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers outscored the Longhorns 27-18 in the final eight minutes to post the win.

Eris Winder led Palo Verde with 22 points, and Nahjee Matlock added 18 points. Both players had six points in the fourth quarter.

Zach Lane paced Legacy with 27 points.

Durango 67, Bonanza 58 — At Bonanza, Cameron Stemley had 21 points to lead the Trailblazers past the Bengals.

Tre’Von Wells added 17 points, and Joel Feigler scored 14 for Durango.

Teyshawn Campbell led Bonanza with 20 points, and teammate Matt Figgins scored 18.

Centennial 70, Cheyenne 56 — At Centennial, Marcus Allen scored 17 to lead the Bulldogs past the Desert Shields

Evan Martin added 12 points for Centennial, which used a 22-0 run in the third quarter to blow the game open.

Aaseem Dixon also had 10 points for Centennial.

Gary Stewart scored 17 to lead Cheyenne. Jamieoun Coleman added 12 points for the Desert Shields.

Faith Lutheran 50, Arbor View 42 — At Arbor View, D’Khari Hicks scored 11 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Crusaders rallied from a 36-31 deficit to top the Aggies.

Greg Thomas added 15 points, and Brett Lubbe scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Chase Ealy had nine points, and Zach Hammond supplied eight points and eight rebounds for Arbor View.

Bishop Gorman 79, Clark 48 — At Clark, Shabazz Muhammad scored 24 as the Gaels rolled to an easy win over the Chargers.

Ben Carter added 11 points, with Rosco Allen and Demetris Morant both scoring 10 for the Gaels.

Clark’s Brian McGriff had 13 points, and Tyler Watts scored 11 for the Chargers.

Eldorado 70, Sunrise Mountain 49 — At Eldorado, Shawn Carter and D.J. Billingsley each scored 13 points as the Sundevils downed the Miners.

Curtis Stewart added 11 points for Eldorado, which outscored Sunrise Mountain, 27-10 in the third quarter to pull away.

Ariel Baggett led the Miners with 15 points, and teammate Miles Evans scored 10.

Desert Oasis 76, Pahrump Valley 30 — At Pahrump, the Diamondbacks raced out to a 46-21 halftime lead and cruised to a victory over the Trojans.

Desert Oasis’ Cameron Mich’l scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half. Zach Bobenhausen supplied 13 points for the Diamondbacks.

Dajhan Celius had 13 points to lead Pahrump.
