ROUNDUP: Bulldog boys capture Kiwanis Tournament title

Evan Martin had 20 points and 10 rebounds Friday to lift Centennial’s boys basketball team to a 77-69 win over Summit (Calif.) in the championship game of the Kiwanis Tournament in San Bernardino, Calif.

Marcus Allen poured in 23 points, and Malcolm Allen scored 17 for the Bulldogs, who held a narrow 38-37 lead at the half.

Neiman Lee scored 12 points for Centennial.

SkyHawks’ sharpshooter Isaiah Taylor drained six 3-pointers and finished with 27 points for the two-time defending tournament champions.

“We weathered the storm,” said Centennial coach Todd Allen. “We came together and we played some really good defense at the end.”

Marcus Allen was named the tournament’s most valuable player. Malcolm Allen and Martin both secured a spot on the all-tournament team.

Silverado 73, Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) 58 — At Palm Desert, Calif., Justin Johnson scored 23 points to lead the Skyhawks to the win in the Desert Heat Classic.

Ruben Jackson added 17 points for Silverado.

Milton (Ga.) 77, Bishop Gorman 56 — At Myrtle Beach, S.C., Milton sprinted to a 41-21 halftime lead and rolled to the win in the semifinals of the Beach Ball Classic.

Evan Nolte had 20 points to lead Milton. He hit five first-half 3-pointers for 17 points at the break. He finished 6-for-7 on 3-pointers, and Milton was 9-for-14 from three for the game.

Charles Mann added 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists for Milton.

Gorman’s Shabazz Muhammad led all scorers with 32 points. He added six rebounds, and was 13-for-21 from the field. But no other Gorman player had more than six pionts, and the Gaels were 2-for-13 from 3-point range for the game.

Ronnie Stanley grabbed seven rebounds for Gorman.

Durango 79, Patrick Henry (Minn.) 71 — At Minneapolis, Joe Tuss poured in 25 points to help the Trailblazers top Patrick Henry in the seventh-place game of the Best Buy Holiday Classic.

Tyler Watts added 21 points, and Tre’Vonn Wells scored 17 for Durango.

Darius Hill pumped in 32 points for Patrick Henry.

Perris (Texas) 58, Green Valley 56 — At Palm Desert, Calif., Lorenzo Jarvis had 10 points and 10 rebounds, but the Gators came up short against Perris.

Durrell McDonald scored 12 points, and Spencer Skaggs added 11 points for Green Valley.

Grantsville (Utah) 46, Sunrise Mountain 43 — At Cedar City, Utah, Devin Adams and Dalen Erickson each had 17 points to lead the Cowboys past the Miners in the Steve Hodson Cancer Classic.

Boulder City 53, Paloma Valley (Calif.) 48 — At Menifee, Calif., Nate Hafen scored 16 points to help the Eagles down the Wildcats in the fifth-place game of the Paloma Tournament.

Michael Walker added 12 points for Boulder City.

Beaver (Utah) 56, Moapa Valley 50 — At Cedar City, Utah, Dalton Blackner had 16 points, and the Beavers staged a second-half comeback against the Pirates.

Tyler Roberts added 12 points for Beaver, which trailed 21-15 at the half.

Dakota Watters led Moapa Valley with 16 points.

GIRLS

Valley Vista (Ariz.) 73, Green Valley 37 — At Surprise, Ariz., the Gators fell in the semifinals of the Monsoon Classic.

Marissa Iwanylo had 10 points for Green Valley, which never recovered after falling behind 28-6 after one quarter.

The Gators’ Maggie Manwarren was named to the all-tournament team.

Westminster (Calif.) 57, Sierra Vista 47 — At Anaheim, Calif., Jasmine Suarez drained seven 3-pointers en route to 27 points, but the Mountain Lions fell to Westminster in the seventh-place game of the Savanna Rebels Tournament.

Melia Tadytin added 13 points, 18 rebounds and four assists for Sierra Vista.
