Roundup: Boulder City tops Moapa Valley for Lake Mead title

Derrick Thomas scored 19 points Saturday to lead Boulder City to a 70-50 win over Moapa Valley in the championship game of the Lake Mead Holiday Classic boys basketball tournament.

Tournament MVP Karson Bailey added 15 points for the Eagles, who used a 15-5 second-quarter run to take the lead.

Ethan Speaker added 13 points, and Matt Morton scored 11 for Boulder City.

Lucas Walker led the Pirates with 19 points.

Bailey and Thomas were joined on the all-tournament team by Moapa Valley’s Walker and Jessup Lake, American Prep’s Ke’Shawn Hall, Lake Mead’s Donte Bristol, SLAM Academy’s Jalen Cunningham, West Wendover’s Jose Gonzalez and Fernley’s Rei Robinett.

West Wendover 51, SLAM Academy 44 — At Lake Mead, Cunningham scored 22 points, but the Bulls fell to the Wolverines in the third-place game at the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Calvary Chapel 57, Virgin Valley 48 — At Lake Mead, Blake Box had 17 points as the Lions beat the Bulldogs in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

J.J. Robinson added 14 points, and Dylan Sims scored 11 for Calvary Chapel.

Daxon Toone led Virgin Valley with 18 points, and Braden Bingham scored 11 for the Bulldogs.

American Prep 60, The Meadows 34 — At Lake Mead, Tahrod Washington scored 12 to lead American Prep past the Mustangs in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Hall and John Jenkins each added 11 points for American Prep.

The Meadows’ Obinna Ezeanolue led all scorers with 23 points.

Lake Mead 59, Tech 44 — At Lake Mead, Bristol scored 32 points to power the Eagles over the Roadrunners in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic.

Devin Nelson scored 10 to lead Tech.

Other Games

Clark 63, Santa Margarita (Calif.) 51 — At Clark, Jalen Hill scored 18 points to help the Chargers defeat the Eagles.

Frankie Collins added 14 points, and Cameron Kimble scored 10 for Clark, which outscored Santa Margarita 40-26 in the second half.

Jake Kyman had 20 points for Santa Margarita.

Green Valley 87, Valley 69 — At Valley, Zachary Hammer had 18 points as the Gators took down the Vikings.

Antoine Hines scored 17 points, and Koby Hawley had 12 points for Green Valley.

Green Valley converted 10 of 13 free throw attempts.

Omar Simpson had 18 points for Valley. Angel Hernandez-Garcia scored 15 points for the Vikings, who knocked down six 3-pointers.

Desert Oasis 70, Tucson (Ariz.) 66 — At Yuma, Arizona, Dominique Ford had 31 points as the Diamondbacks knocked off the Badgers in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Kadyn Koch added 18 points for Desert Oasis, which hit nine 3-pointers.

Lincoln County 53, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 39 — At Yuma, Arizona, Kobe Kelley had 15 points as the Lynx took down the Knights in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Alex Vincent added 11 points for the Lynx.

Folsom (Calif.) 75, Faith Lutheran 51 — At Reno, Tiler Fears had 15 points as the Bulldogs beat the Crusaders in the Wild West Shootout.

Folsom, which led 27-12 after one quarter, had five players score in double figures.

D.J. Heckard led Faith Lutheran with 14 points, and teammate Brevin Walter scored 10.

Palo Verde Valley (Calif.) 53, Mountain View 42 — At Yuma, Arizona, Devin De La Garza had 20 points to lead the Yellowjackets over the Saints in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Rason McLennan led Mountain View with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Nicholas Santana scored 13 for the Saints.

Jackpot 49, Pahranagat Valley 39 — At Wells, Stockton Maxwell scored 27 points, but the Panthers fell to the Jaguars in the Wells Rural Electric Classic.
