Locals complete tour of China

The U.S. Basketball Academy All-Stars, featuring six men’s players from the Las Vegas area, completed their tour of China with a 2-7 record.

Marcus Falley, a 2009 graduate of Durango High School who played last season at Mount Zion Christian Academy (N.C.), scored 36 points as the All-Stars lost 74-67 to the Slovenia Junior National team in their final game Tuesday.

Also in the final game, recent Bishop Gorman graduate Tim Carter and Gorman junior-to-be Ben Carter had six points and six rebounds apiece for the All-Stars.

The team played games in three cities across China. The trip was paid for by the U.S. Basketball Academy in Eugene, Ore., Sports Ventures International and Atlas Sports.

“It was just a great cultural and educational experience,” All-Stars coach Mike Carter said. “To see how people live over there, it was a great experience for these kids.”
