BOYS BASKETBALL: Tharaldson’s jumper gives Faith Lutheran win

Gary Tharaldson’s jumper in overtime gave Faith Lutheran’s boys basketball team the lead and the Crusaders held on for a 58-57 win over King’s Way Christian (Wash.) in the Christian Cup Tournament in Gilbert, Ariz.

Luke Bergen scored 16 points to lead Faith Lutheran, which trailed 27-22 at the half.

Zach Friel added 15 points, and Blake Bell scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Cherry Creek (Colo.) 45, Cheyenne 37 — At Cheyenne, Will Halfon and Hayden Parr each scored 15 points to lead the Bruins by the Desert Shields.

Alahjan Banks had 15 points for Cheyenne, which trailed only 24-17 at the half but was held to one point in the third quarter.

Mountain View 49, Gila Ridge (Ariz.) 45 — At Yuma, Ariz., Tevin Gray scored 23 points to lead the Saints to the victory in the Southwest Rotary Classic.

Terrence Brooks added 11 points and five steals for Mountain View, which led 31-21 at the half.

Mohave (Ariz) 48, Needles 37 — At Bullhead City, Ariz., Joe Heath poured in 23 points to lead the Thunderbirds by the Mustangs in the Lake Havasu Invitational.

Lonnie Langston added 10 points for Mojave, which led only 33-29 after three quarters.

Derek Wagstaff led Needles with seven points.
