Boys basketball playoff picture comes into focus

A wild night in the Northwest League on Thursday helped shake out most of the Southern Nevada Class 4A boys basketball playoff picture.

Instead, Palo Verde claimed the league’s top seed in a tiebreaker. Also, Centennial downed Arbor View to nose out Legacy for the league’s final spot.

Both Palo Verde and Cheyenne finished 12-2 in league play and split their season series.

The second tiebreaker is beaten opponents, but both Palo and Cheyenne split with Mojave and swept the rest of the league.

The third tiebreaker is the second meeting between the teams. Palo Verde beat Cheyenne in the second meeting, giving Palo Verde the tiebreaker and the No. 1 seed.

Mojave is the No. 3 seed at 9-5.

Centennial and Legacy tied for fourth at 7-7 and split their season series.

Centennial’s regular-season sweep of Mojave gave it the edge in the beaten opponents tiebreaker and the No. 4 seed.
