BOYS BASKETBALL: Merchant’s late free throws help Dragons top Sundevils

Anthony Merchant made 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with 15 points Tuesday to help host Del Sol’s boys basketball team to a 73-69 win over Eldorado.

Brian Greer added 15 points, and Rashaun Lawson scored 13 for the Dragons.

Carl Crayon led Eldorado with 21 points. Carmonte Jones added 19 points, and Shane Barnes scored 12 for the Sundevils.

Boulder City 51, Western 46 — At Western, Tyler Newby had 19 points to help the Eagles hold off the Warriors.

Wyatt Rozea led Western with 14 points. Kwan Carter added 11 points, and Kendrick Boyd scored 10 for the Warriors.

Desert Oasis 84, Sierra Vista 62 — At Desert Oasis, Drevin Coleman and Taiga Miyano scored 17 points each to help the Diamondbacks down the Mountain Lions.

Rodrick Moore added 13 points, and Aamondae Coleman scored 12 for Desert Oasis, which trailed by five after one quarter but outscored Sierra Vista 54-24 in the middle two quarters.

Jasper Cook scored 15 points, and Maka Ellis added 14 points for Sierra Vista.

Silverado 49, Cimarron-Memorial 42 — At Silverado, Jireh Johnson scored 16 points, and the Skyhawks made 27 of 38 free-throw attempts to hold off the Spartans.

Terrell Walker led Cimarron with nine points.

Mojave 62, Cheyenne 44 — At Mojave, Malik Abbott had 15 points and six assists, and Jordan Glenn had 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Rattlers topped the Desert Shields.

Bruce Gaitor scored 14 points, and Joseph Rose had 10 points to lead Cheyenne.

Las Vegas 74, Arbor View 49 — At Arbor View, Patrick Savoy led a balanced attack with 14 points as the Wildcats cruised past the Aggies.

Tyler Bey had 13 points, and Deshawn Weathers scored 10 for Las Vegas, which sprinted to a 20-4 first-quarter lead.

Trent Hunt scored 14 points, and Calvin Brooks had 10 points for Arbor View.

Basic 77, Chaparral 57 — At Basic, Robert Sutton had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Jaimen Williams scored 16 points to help the Wolves top the Cowboys.

Josh Villaros had 14 points, and Jared Meacham supplied 12 points for Basic, which led 34-16 at halftime.

Marc Silas led Chaparral with 15 points.

Valley 69, Shadow Ridge 52 — At Shadow Ridge, Cameron Burton poured in 23 points, and Darrion Daniels had 14 points as the Vikings rolled past the Mustangs.

Jerell Springer had 12 points and seven rebounds for Shadow Ridge, which got 10 points apiece from Kevin Branch and Preston Echols.

Palo Verde 80, Bonanza 54 — At Bonanza, Grant Dressler scored 18 points as the Panthers ran past the Bengals.

Taylor Morgan had 14 points, and Ja Morgan added 10 points for Palo Verde, which outscored Bonanza 50-24 in the middle two quarters.

Jamal Logan scored 19 points to lead Bonanza.

Faith Lutheran 62, Virgin Valley 42 — At Mesquite, Blake Bell scored 15 points to help lead the Crusaders past the Bulldogs.

John Molchon added 14 points for Faith Lutheran, which outscored the Bulldogs 14-5 in the third quarter to take control.

Keegan Biasi had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Marcus Saunders scored 11 for Virgin Valley.

Green Valley 61, Spring Valley 44 — At Green Valley, Romello Jones had 14 points to lift the Gators by the Grizzlies.

Kelvin Omojola added 13 points for Green Valley, which led 44-18 at halftime.

Spring Valley’s Curtis Owens had 10 points.

Rancho 72, Liberty 44 — At Liberty, David McKeever poured in 25 points, and the Rams built a 33-12 halftime lead on their way to a win over the Patriots.

Lamont Traylor added 14 points for Rancho.

Dyllan Robinson led Liberty with 13 points, and teammate Tai Senor scored 12.

Sunrise Mountain 69, Pahrump Valley 39 — At Sunrise Mountain, Jamilo Whitten scored 14 points, and Damon Heard and Tyri White added 13 points apiece as the Miners downed the Trojans.

Uriel Ramberg-Wiley led Pahrump with 13 points.

Centennial 62, Desert Hills (Utah) 44 — At St. George, Utah, Troy Brown had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Bulldogs by the Thunder.

Darrian Traylor had 11 points for Centennial, which led 39-30 after three quarters.

Quincy Mathews had 14 points for Desert Hills.
