SMALL-SCHOOL BASEBALL: Johnson, Lynx top Needles

Colton Johnson was 4-for-4 with two triples, a double, two runs and four RBIs on Saturday to help Lincoln County’s baseball team to a 9-6 win over host Needles in the championship game of the Division III Southern League tournament.

Preston Robbins was 2-for-2 with a run, and Paul Boag went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Lynx (22-4-1).

Michael Miranda was 4-for-4 with a run, and Kobee McCorkle and Jason Neverov each went 2-for-4 for the Mustangs (16-10-1).

Both teams advance to the state tournament, which begins Thursday in Reno.
