ROUNDUP: Williams helps Palo Verde softball to victory

Rachel Williams went 4-for-4 and combined with Kelsea Sweeney on a six-inning four-hitter on Saturday to lead Palo Verde’s softball team to a 10-0 home win over Canyon View (Utah).

Breanna Beatty was 3-for-4 with a double, and Melissa Lacro went 3-for-4 for the Panthers. Mackenzie McBride was 2-for-3 with a double for Palo Verde.

Desert Oasis 14, Sierra Vista 4 — At Desert Oasis, Karly Severance was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to help the Diamondbacks rout the Mountain Lions in five innings.

Sammantha Caruso was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Mary Dungey went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Kira Felise and Kalei Watkins each went 2-for-2 for Sierra Vista.

Lincoln County 14, White Pine 4 — At Panaca, Tanji Tibbitts went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Chelsea Lloyd and Kaylee Teel both went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double to help the Lynx top the Bobcats in six innings.

Winning pitcher Aspen Wilkin struck out nine and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Lincoln County, which also got a home run from Easton Tingey.

Alli Huntington homered for White Pine.

BASEBALL

Desert Oasis 11, Sierra Vista 10 — At Desert Oasis, winning pitcher Lukas Diehm hit a first-inning grand slam, and A.J. Landis pitched to just one batter but got the final three outs as the Diamondbacks held off the Mountain Lions.

Diehm was 1-for-2, and Dominic Paratore went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which built an 11-7 lead after three innings.

Sierra Vista rallied to within 11-10 and had runners at first and second with no outs in the seventh when Landis entered.

He picked off the runner at second before throwing his first pitch, and on his second pitch got Caeden Marin to hit a grounder to shortstop. The Diamondbacks got a force out at second, but threw wildly to first. Marin tried to advance to second, but Desert Oasis catcher Bryson Stott backed up the wild throw and gunned down Marin to end the game.

Cole Crosby was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Nolan Kingham and Ryan Carrol each went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Sierra Vista.

Lincoln County 8, White Pine 2 — At Panaca, Nick Vincent was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs, and winning pitcher Mike Wood went 2-for-4 with a run as the Lynx downed the Bobcats.

McClain O’Connor went 2-for-4 and scored twice for Lincoln County.
