Roundup: Virgin Valley rallies to beat Boulder City

Joshua Abbott singled home Dakota Munford in the bottom of the seventh to give Virgin Valley’s baseball team a 4-3 win over visiting Boulder City on Monday.

Virgin Valley trailed 3-2 going to the bottom of the seventh, but Logan Felix led off with a single, and Munford reached on an error. Nathen Abbott singled home Felix to tie the game.

Jayden Perkins was 2-for-3 with a run, and Kayden Peterson went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

Munford threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Chaparral 6, Tech 2 — At Tech, Jacob Mauro’s three-run double capped a four-run fifth inning and lifted the Cowboys by the Roadrunners.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning, Robert O’Connor drew a walk to load the bases. Talon Greene was hit by a pitch to force in Cannon Greene with the go-ahead run.

Mauro followed with a double to left-center, plating Antonio Vara, O’Connor and Talon Greene.

James Cobian tossed a four-hitter and struck out six for Chaparral.

Tech’s Sean Jones and Jose Leon each went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Spring Valley 12, Sierra Vista 2 — At Sierra Vista, Donovan Souder and Jonathan Bakken each homered as the Grizzlies defeated the Mountain Lions in six innings.

Bakken finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Souder went 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Spring Valley’s Braxton Brushke tossed a four-hitter and struck out six batters to earn the victory. Mitchell Otis went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, and Chase Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Grizzlies.

Sierra Vista’s Ramon Benitez went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Desert Pines 14, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, winning pitcher Juan Castaneda was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, four RBIs and two runs as the Jaguars beat the Miners in five innings.

Castaneda allowed a pair of unearned runs on four hits. He struck out 10 and walked one.

Raymond Minero was 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Jorge Milian went 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs for Desert Pines.

James Grego and Fernando Fuentes each added two hits for the Jaguars.

Durango 15, Clark 0 — At Clark, Daniel Hauben tossed a one-hitter hit as the Trailblazers rolled past the Chargers in four innings.

Hauben struck out seven.

Durango’s Irvin Weems hit a two-run home run and had four RBIs, and teammate Duke Pahukoa hit a three-run home run. Jason Salazar hit a double and had four RBIs, and Justin Lucas went 3-for-3 with four runs for the Trailblazers.

Dylan Sechrist had Clark’s only hit.

Moapa Valley 24, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Coby Longman threw a no-hitter, and Luke Bennett went 4-for-5 with a grand slam and eight RBIs as the Pirates rolled to a three-inning win over the Dragons.

Chase Guesman went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, Payton McDermott went 3-for-4 with a double, and Gavin Hadley hit a double for Moapa Valley.

Western 13, Cheyenne 3 — At Western, Tyler Matthews was 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs, three runs and threw a complete game to power the Warriors over the Desert Shields in six innings.

Adrian Oles was 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs for the Warriors.

Christopher Rose was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Silverado 16, Cimarron-Memorial 14 — At Cimarron, Andrew Maxwell was 3-for-6 with a run and three RBIs, and Tyler Paasche went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Skyhawks beat the Spartans.

Jarod Hill was 3-for-4 with two runs, and Brant Hunt had three RBIs for Silverado.

Caleb Hubbard, Chris Cortez and Nikolas Cortez each added two hits for Silverado.

Cimarron’s Seth Hoffman was 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, three runs and two RBIs. Zach Culver was 3-for-5 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs, and Miek Overland was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Lasith Narasinghe was 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs for the Spartans.

Pahrump Valley 16, Mojave 7 — At Mojave, the Trojans used a 13-hit attack to knock off the Rattlers.
