ROUNDUP: Tomassetti’s tiebreaking hit is difference for Sierra Vista

Scotty Tomassetti singled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and Sierra Vista’s baseball team edged host Green Valley 3-2 on Friday.

Matt Holman hit a solo home run in the first inning for the Mountain Lions, and Alex Estrella and Blair Goldsack combined to pitch a four-hitter.

Evan Van Hoosier was 2-for-4 with a triple for Green Valley.

Bishop Gorman 12, Pleasant Valley (Calif.) 1 — At Tucson, Ariz., Jeff Malm went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Gaels breeze in the semifinals of the Cherry Field Classic.

Stephen Manthei pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts for Gorman and was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

The Gaels will play Tucson at 5 p.m. today in the championship game.

Centennial 15, Silverado 13 — At Centennial, the Bulldogs took a 15-10 lead with a five-run sixth inning, keyed by four doubles, and they held on to beat the Skyhawks.

Anthony Consiglio had three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs for Centennial. Matt Triana was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and Christian Bernal 3-for-3 with three runs.

For Silverado, Braden Keathley went 3-for-5 with a homer, double, three runs and two RBIs. Bobby Johnson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs. 

Cimarron-Memorial 5, Spring Valley 3 — At Cimarron, Dyllon Nuernberg and Kris Kaplan each homered and went 2-for-3 as the Spartans held off the Grizzlies.

Nuernberg had three RBIs, and Sam Lindsay went 2-for-3 with an RBI .

Winner John King allowed two earned runs on five hits in six innings. He struck out five.

Las Vegas 9, Foothill 3 — At College of Southern Nevada, Bryce Harper went 2-for-2 with three RBIs to carry Las Vegas past the Falcons.

Quinnton Mack supplied three RBIs for the Wildcats, who took a 6-2 lead with four runs in the top of the third.

Jordan Mathis and Jordan Stewart hit doubles for Foothill.

Palo Verde 10, Bonanza 5 — At Palo Verde, Dustin Morelli’s two-run homer and Brandon Laubhan’s two-run double fueled the Panthers’ decisive six-run fourth inning.

Morelli and Laubhan each went 2-for-4.

Bonanza’s Heriberto Orozco had two doubles and an RBI.

Arbor View 11, Rancho 1 — At Arbor View, Michael Fulks struck out six while tossing a five-inning four-hitter to lead the Aggies past the Rams.

Tyler LeBaron went 2-for-3 to help Arbor View, which ended the game with a seven-run fifth inning.

Valley 14, Faith Lutheran 5 — At Faith Lutheran, Dayan Oses was 4-for-4 with two triples and three RBIs to guide the Vikings past the Crusaders.

Marcus Mejia (two RBIs) and Matt Newark (one) both went 2-for-3 for Valley, which scored nine runs in the third inning.

Niwot (Colo.) 4, Durango 0 — At Durango, the Trailblazers committed three errors to aid Niwot’s three-run sixth inning.

Zach Hollenback doubled for Durango, which was held to three hits.

Eldorado 9, Shadow Ridge 7 — At Eldorado, the Sundevils scored eight runs in the first on the way to the win.

Cory Keplinger went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Eric Larsen added two hits, a run and an RBI for the Sundevils.

Keplinger also picked up the win, allowing two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts.
