Roundup: Max Luega powers Green Valley over Basic

Max Leuga’s sixth-inning single plated Scott Gruber with the go-ahead run Monday and Green Valley’s baseball team held on to beat visiting Basic, 3-2

Luega finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Gruber scored twice.

Jake Empey pitched six innings for the Gators, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out eight and walked one. Joe DiGiacomo recorded Green Valley’s save.

Zach Hose had a triple for Basic, and Christian Rivero and Jesse Fonteboa each doubled. Fonteboa went the distance on the mound.

Las Vegas 5, Foothill 4 — At Las Vegas High, Nathan Freimuth’s RBI double in the bottom of the sixth broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Wildcats the win over the Falcons.

Freimuth was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs for Las Vegas.

Foothill’s Andrew Hauck went 4-for-4, and teammate Jake Perales was 2-for-3.

Desert Pines 8, Cheyenne 7 — At Desert Pines, James Greco hit a pair of triples and scored twice as the Jaguars edged the Desert Shields.

Juan Castaneda threw a complete game for the Jaguars and struck out 11. He allowed all of Cheyenne’s runs in the fourth inning, and they all were unearned. Castaneda and teammate Steven Laureano each tripled and had three RBIs.

Joseph Moreno doubled for the Desert Shields.

Arbor View 8, Faith Lutheran 4 — At Faith Lutheran, Austin Pfeifer hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning and pitched a complete game without allowing an earned run to carry the Aggies over the Crusaders.

Pfeifer finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs, and also had a double. He struck out six.

DeAngelo Smith doubled and scored three times for the Aggies, including the go-ahead run in the seventh on a wild pitch.

Jacob Ortega had a triple and two RBIs for the Crusaders.

Pahrump Valley 5, Western 1 — At Pahrump, the Trojans scored four runs runs in the fourth inning as they defeated the Warriors.

Garrett Lucas pitched six innings, allowed four hits and struck out six to earn the victory. Willie Lucas hit an RBI double for Pahrump. Dylan Grossell hit a double, and Joey Koenig and Anthony Charles each hit an RBI single for the Trojans.

Tyler Matthews went 2-for-3 for Western.

Sierra Vista 20, Boulder City 10 — At Sierra Vista, Keanu Kinney-Jorge had a triple, a double and five RBIs to help the Mountain Lions outslug the Eagles.

Nick Morice doubled and had five RBIs for the Mountain Lions, and teammate Ramon Benitez doubled.

Anthony Pacifico hit a double for the Eagles.

Cimarron-Memorial 13, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Seth Hoffman was 4-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs as the Spartans downed the Longhorns.

Trevor Doyle and Derek Decolati each tripled for the Spartans, and Zach Culver had a double.

Aaron Lopez homered for Legacy, and Noah Lomeli had two doubles for the Longhorns.

Liberty 19, Eldorado 4 — At Liberty, Tyler Williamson doubled and tripled as the Patriots ran away from the Sundevils in four innings.

Jack Hale doubled and knocked in four for the Patriots, and teammate Jordan Bohnet doubled and had three RBIs.

Ethan O’Neal and Isaac Haina each tripled for Liberty.

Rancho 19, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Edarian Williams finished a single short of the cycle with four RBIs and three runs as the Rams rolled the Pioneers in three innings.

Chayse Baker tripled for the Rams, who got doubles from Joey Walls, Kagen Kennedy, Anthony Guzman, Matthew Baughn and Donovan Gladney.

Trevor Berkemeyer and Makeiel Hoover doubled for Canyon Springs

Coronado 18, Valley 0 — At Valley, Ryan Murphy tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out nine as the Cougars rolled past the Vikings in five innings.

Logan Bleazard had a triple and three RBIs for Coronado. Cade Printy hit a double, and Eric Stephens had two RBIs for the Cougars.

Mojave 21, Sunrise Mountain 5 — At Sunrise Mountain, Rudy Fernandez went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, four runs and four RBIs to help the Rattlers to the five-inning win over the Miners.

Mike Cianci went 3-for-4 with two solo homers and four runs, and Kevin Gutierrez went 4-for-5 with a double, a triple, two runs and two RBIs for Mojave.

Natanael Sauceda was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, and Logan Forepaugh and Eurico Rodriguez-Cardenas each had two hits for the Rattlers.

Cecil Hall was 2-for-3 wiht a double, a triple and two runs for Sunrise Mountain.

Calvary Chapel 26, Mountain View 4 — At Mountain View, Koby Myxter was 4-for-5 with a double, five RBIs and four runs to power the Lions to a three-inning win against the Saints.

Chaz Cleveland had a double and four RBIs for the Lions, who got doubles from Ryan Carrol, Kade Sellers, Gage Terry, and a triple from Christian Zachodni.

Chris Murray doubled for the Saints.

Spring Mountain 18-19, Beaver Dam 13-8 — At Mountain Ridge Park, the Golden Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to ensure a victory over the Diamondbacks in the first game of a doubleheader.

Patrick Smith doubled and scored four times for the Golden Eagles.

In the second game, Nicholas Bond tripled and scored three times to lead the Golden Eagles over the Diamondbacks in four innings.

The Meadows 12, Lake Mead 10 — At The Meadows, Sam Kaplan had a triple, three RBIs and three runs as the Mustangs edged the Eagles.

Brett Lieuallen tripled for the Mustangs, and Trey Covell had a double.

Bryan White doubled for Lake Mead.
