ROUNDUP: Kelly helps Patriots edge Grizzlies, win tourney

Griffin Kelly was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lift Liberty’s baseball team to a 9-8 road win over Spring Valley in the Grizzly Invitational on Wednesday.

Chris Bradford went 2-for-4 for the Patriots, who scored seven runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.

Spring Valley rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh and had runners at the corners with two outs, but Chaz Hellman struck out Dylan Drachler to end the game.

Liberty finished 4-0 to win the tournament.

Cody Foremaster was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Cody Smith went 2-for-3 for the Grizzlies.

Bonanza 5, Spring Valley 2 — At Spring Valley, Jack Orozco was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run to lead the Bengals over the Grizzlies in the Grizzly Invitational.

Orozco’s two-run double gave the Bengals a 3-2 lead and keyed a five-run fifth inning.

Nick Risucci scattered five hits to get the win.

Drachler went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and an RBI for Spring Valley.

Coronado 23, Legacy 6 — At Spring Valley, Miles Bice went 5-for-6 with three triples, three RBIs and three runs as the Cougars routed the Longhorns in the Grizzly Invitational.

Tyler Brown was 4-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs, Dillon Fahr went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two RBIs and two runs, and Cody Howard and Michael Pollex each had three hits and four RBIs for the Cougars.

Pollex and Howard each hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning as the Cougars scored eight runs. Coronado also had eight runs in the first inning.

Legacy’s Josh Torres went 4-for-4 with an RBI and a run, and teammate Brayden Torres was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run.

Bishop Gorman 12, Faith Lutheran 2 — At Gorman, Tyler Baker went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to lead the Gaels to the five-inning win.

Justin Jones was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Matt Roth added a homer and two RBIs for Gorman.

David Edson was 2-for-2 with a double for Faith Lutheran.

Kennedy (Calif.) 9, Silverado 2 — At San Bernadino, Calif., Chris Mallon had two doubles, and the Cougars scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning to down the Skyhawks in the Lions Tournament.

Michael Meyers was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and an RBI for Silverado, which also got a double each from Wyatt Reid, Bryan Faucher, Josh Bravin and Hunter Welch.

Rock (Calif.) 15, Del Sol 14 — At San Diego, the Dragons rallied after falling behind 10-0, but couldn’t complete the comeback in the Lions Tournament.

Billy Fox was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs for Del Sol, which stranded the tying run at second in the bottom of the seventh.

Dylan Greer was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Andrew Curfman added three hits for Del Sol.

Corona (Calif.) 6, Rancho 1 — At Anaheim, Calif., the Rams fell to 0-4 in the Anaheim Lions Tournament.

Bryce Harrell was 2-for-4 with a double for Rancho, and teammate Nick Chavez was named to the all-tournament team.
