Roundup: James Delaney’s late-game heroics power Sierra Vista

James Delaney pinch hit in the seventh inning with Sierra Vista down a run, and hit a two-out, two-run double to help the Mountain Lions’ baseball team score three in the seventh and out-slug host Durango, 17-16 on Wednesday.

Alex Chavira, Josh DeGuzman and Isaiah Williams each had three RBIs for the Mountain Lions.

Irvin Weems went 3-for-4 with a homer, two doubles and four runs for the Trailblazers.

Coronado 4, Liberty (Ariz.) 3 — At Tucson, Arizona, Kyle Hall allowed one run over six innings as the Cougars topped the Lions in the Boras Classic.

Liberty’s J.D. Wadleigh hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 4-3, but Aaron Lutz came on with the tying run on base and got the final two outs to record a save.

Hall went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Taylor Darden was 3-for-3 with an RBI for Coronado.

Rancho 6, Las Vegas 4 — At Las Vegas High, Jimmy Gamboa threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts and went 3-for-3 with a walk to power the Rams over the Wildcats.

Joey Walls doubled and scored twice for the Rams, Chayse Baker hit a triple, and Andrew Baughn doubled.

Payton Miller homered and scored twice for Las Vegas.

Desert Pines 8, Clark 7 — At Desert Pines, winning pitcher Raymond Minero went 4-for-5 with triple, RBI and run scored to help the Jaguars hang on to beat the Chargers.

Clark scored five runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead, but the Jaguars answered with one in the bottom half and four in the fifth to regain the lead.

James Greco tripled and scored twice for the Jaguars, and Juan Castaneda doubled and scored.

Kelsey Brooke tripled for Clark, and Luke Miles and Dylan Sechrist each hit a double.

Basic 4, Mountain View (Ariz.) 2 — At Scottsdale, Arizona, Zach Hose doubled and drove in two runs as the Wolves fell topped the Toros in the Boras Classic.

Garrett Giles went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Basic.

C.J. Dornak pitched four innings to earn the win, and Nick Thompson picked up the save.

Erick Bahn tripled, Jared Thomas hit a double, and Joe Georgini went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Mountain View.

Desert Oasis 4, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Izzy Gutierrez tossed six solid innings, allowing seven hits with eight strikeouts as the Diamondbacks defeated the Bengals.

Zac Czerniawski supplied two hits and three RBIs for Desert Oasis, which got a one-inning save in relief from Cole Schaefer. Schaefer and Parker Schmidt each had two hits for the Diamondbacks.

Matthew Cox and Ryan Webster each contributed two hits to pace Bonanza.

Moapa Valley 12, Pahrump Valley 3 — At Overton, Coby Longman pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a home run, double and four RBIs to power the Pirates past the Trojans.

Batterymate Daxton Longman smacked a three-run homer, and Chase Hadley supplied a base hit and two RBIs for Moapa Valley, which scored six runs in the fourth inning.

Cole Walker had a double and an RBI for Pahrump Valley.

Liberty 15, Foothill 5 — At Liberty, James Katona was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs as the Patriots rolled by the Falcons.

Joseph Rush went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, and Zanden Shin had four RBIs for Liberty. Garrett Maloney earned the win for the Patriots.

Chris Ranieri supplied a three-run triple to pace Foothill.

Silverado 16, Valley 0 — At Valley, Patrick Ballinger was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to lift the Skyhawks over the Vikings.

Dax Fellows went 2-for-3 with four runs scored for the Skyhawks, and Grant McCarty hit a double.

Chris Cortez fired four shutout innings with nine strikeouts and one hit allowed for Silverado.

Green Valley 16, Eldorado 0 — At Green Valley, Max Luega went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs, and the Gators had nine extra-base hits in the three-inning win over the Sundevils.

Jake Empey, Scott Gruber, Colton Rambur, Callan Hermansen and Josh George each tripled for the Gators, and Carter Gehlken and Donovan Cash each hit a double.

Aaron Rodgers had both of Eldorado’s hits.

Bishop Gorman 20, Spring Valley 0 — At Gorman, Christian Lamar was 2-for-2 with two homers and six RBIs as the Gaels rolled to the three-inning win over the Grizzlies.

Ryan Sepede went 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs, and Max Prescott drove in two runs for Gorman, which scored 15 runs in the bottom of the first.
