ROUNDUP: Hudgins helps Crusaders slip past Mustangs
Andrew Hudgins’ RBI double in the top of the seventh inning broke a 7-7 tie and gave Faith Lutheran’s baseball team an 8-7 road win over Shadow Ridge on Friday.
The Crusaders trailed 7-6 when Blake Matthias and Brendan Meyer started the inning with walks.
After a wild pitch, Tyler Trageton grounded out to short to send home the tying run and set up Hudgins’ game-winner.
David Edson was 2-for-3 for for Faith Lutheran.
Troy Williams went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run, and Mike Wager was 2-for-3 with a three-run double for Shadow Ridge.
Desert Oasis 17, Spring Valley 2 — At Spring Valley, the Diamondbacks scored 13 runs in the final two innings to cruise past the Grizzlies.
Zane Killebrew was 4-for-6 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI for Desert Oasis, which led 4-1 before scoring six runs in the top of the sixth.
Joe Paratore went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs and an RBI, and Cody Schmidt, Jordan Compehos, Riley Smith and Jossaiah Raval each added two hits.
Raval had a triple and three RBIs, Smith added a double and three RBIs, and Schmidt and Compehos each drove in two runs.
Mike Maiello also drove in three runs for the Diamondbacks.
Compehos allowed one run on five hits in five innings to earn the win, in which he struck out six and walked one.
Kenny Hartlauer was 2-for-3 with a run for Spring Valley.
Cimarron-Memorial 15, Mojave 1 — At Cimarron, Steven Lindsay had a homer and three RBIs to help the Spartans to the five-inning win.
Nathan Hale was 2-for-2 with two triples, a run and an RBI, Cody Clark went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, and Kevin Dorantes added a homer and two RBIs for Cimarron.
Eleven Cimarron players safely hit.
Francisco Colin went 2-for-3 with a double for Mojave.
Legacy 11, Cheyenne 1 — At Legacy, Avery Brandon spun a three-hitter to earn the win, and hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Longhorns blitzed the Desert Shields in five innings.
Legacy’s Pierce Skinner belted a two-run homer and finished with two hits and three RBIs.
Sierra Vista 7, Clark 3 — At Sierra Vista, Blair Goldsack was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help the Mountain Lions top the Chargers.
Scott Tomassetti was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and Jake Findlay went 2-for-4 for Sierra Vista.
Greg McKinney was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs for Clark.
Bishop Gorman 8, Bonanza 5 — At Gorman, Erik Van Meetren went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer and two RBIs to lead the Gaels past the Bengals.
Michael Blasko went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Johnny Sewald was 2-for-3 with a run for Gorman.
Mike Hoyes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Bonanza, and Alec Taft and Joaquin Orozco each went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Arbor View 11, Palo Verde 1 — At Arbor View, Evan McMahan tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Aggies routed the Panthers in five innings.
McMahan also had two doubles and four RBIs for Arbor View, which used a seven-run fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Jordan Godman supplied an RBI triple and an RBI single for the Aggies.
Durango 18, Western 8 — At Durango, Anthony Martine went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs to help the Trailblazers defeat the Warriors in five innings.
Scott Martinez went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to help Durango, and teammates Jake Dismont and Jason Fazendin each added a homer.
Centennial 13, Las Vegas 6 — At Centennial, Adrian Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats.
Casey Moses went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for Centennial, which scored nine runs in the bottom of the third. Ian Ogurek was 2-for-2 for the Bulldogs.
Brady Page hit a solo home run for Las Vegas.
Foothill 19, Sunrise Mountain 2 — At Foothill, Dakota Wadkins went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a double and four RBIs to help the Falcons cruise past the Miners in five innings.
Tim Dupuis was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to help Foothill, which took over with a 10-run third inning. Teammate Royce Salay went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and David Ryan was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Pahrump Valley 18, Moapa Valley 1 — At Pahrump, Joe McCaw went 2-for-4 with thee runs and an RBI, and Aaron Pike was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Trojans past the Pirates in five innings.
Ed Martinez had a homer and two RBIs, and Scott Mendel, James Munger, Aukai Alameda each had two RBIs for Pahrump.
Boulder City 10-14, Virgin Valley 0-4 — At Mesquite, Nick Morelli went a combined 5-for-9 with a home run, three RBIs and six runs scored to help the Eagles secure the Southern League’s regular-season championship with a pair of six-inning wins over the Bulldogs.
Jack LaMarca went 5-for-6 with two home runs and five RBIs on the day to help Boulder City, and teammate Tanner Howell went 4-for-8 with five RBIs.
Calvary Chapel 19-10, Lake Mead 3-2 — At River Mountain Park, Steven Shigley went a combined 4-for-7 wih a double, two home runs and three RBIs and also picked up a win and a save to help the Lions cruise past the Eagles.
Shigley allowed one earned run on four hits in five innings in the first game, when he struck out 13 and walked two.
In the second game, Shigley threw three hitless innings of relief with six strikeouts to get the save.
Dillon Smith went a combined 5-for-8 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, and also picked up the win in the second game.
Needles 26-15, Agassi Prep 0-0 — At Doolittle Park, Devin Truscott threw a no-hitter as the Mustangs swept a pair of five-inning games from the Stars.
Tonopah 14-12, Spring Mountain 0-0 — At Mountain Ridge Park, Emitt Davis pitched a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the second game and went 5-for-6 with two RBIs on the day to lead the Muckers to a sweep of the Eagles.
Tonopah’s Julian Hirsch fired a five-inning two-hitter with eight strikeouts in the first game.
Taylor McLauchlin was 4-for-6 with five RBIs on the day for Tonopah.
Pahranagat Valley 8-11, Indian Springs 5-9 — At Indian Springs, Kade Wadsworth set a school record with 18 strikeouts in the opener as the Panthers overcame a 4-2 first-inning deficit and went on to clinch the 1A Southern League regular-season title with a sweep of the Thunderbirds.
Beatty 15-7, Round Mountain 1-1 — At Beatty, Ricardo Pelayo went a combined 4-for-8 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead the Hornets to the sweep.
Isaias Flores was 3-for-6 with a double and an RBI for Beatty.
Ivan Maldonado allowed no earned runs on two hits in four innings to get the win in the first game, then went 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in the nightcap.
Sandy Valley 25-24, Trinity 4-3 — At Rivera Park, Nathan Plaza went 8-for-9 on the day and Patrick Hudson was 7-for-10 to lead the Sidewinders to a sweep of the Thunder.
Sandy Valley’s Josh Roth hit a three-run homer in the first game.
Damen Cook and Kien Nguyen both went 3-for-6 on the day to lead Trinity.
