ROUNDUP: Cimarron freshman McAninch lifts Spartans past Crusaders

Cimarron-Memorial freshman Tanner McAninch singled home two runs with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to give the Spartans’ baseball team a 12-11 home win over Faith Lutheran.

A.J. Hernandez led off the inning with a double, and Nathan Hale walked.

One out later, Kevin Dorantes singled to load the bases and set up McAninch.

Hernandez was 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs and two RBIs, and Dorantes, McAninch and Travis Hendry each drove in three runs for the Spartans.

Caleb Summerhays was 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs to lead the Crusaders. Nick Bata and J.B. Eary each added a home run for Faith Lutheran.

Green Valley 3, Liberty 0 — At Green Valley, Nolan Kohorst threw six shutout innings to lead the Gators past the Patriots.

Kohorst allowed three hits, struck out six and walked two. David Opperman struck out three in the seventh to earn the save.

Bobby Shiroky went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Green Valley offense. Gabe Douglas was 2-for-2 for the Gators.

Durango 5, Bonanza 4 — At Durango, Mike Neighbors singled home Matt Grisnik with one out in the bottom of the seventh to give the Trailblazers the win over the Bengals.

Mike Sukeyasu added a two-run homer for Durango.

Rey Cardenas struck out five in 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to get the win.

Bonanza’s Kris Bryant homered, and Ted Merich was 2-for-3 for the Bengals. Bonanza starter Mario Franzese struck out 10 in six innings.

Palo Verde 8, Centennial 2 — At Centennial, Dan Jaffe went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs to lead the Panthers past the Bulldogs.

Billy Bob Ward was 2-for-3 with two runs, and Zach Benson went 2-for-3 with a run for Palo Verde.

Austin Pomerantz scattered six hits with five strikeouts to earn the win.

Silverado 11, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Mike Meyers had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs to lead the Skyhawks past the Falcons.

Jeremy Morski and A.J. Ford each added three of Silverado’s 19 hits.

Morgan Stotts tossed a five-hitter, walking three and striking out three, for the Skyhawks.

Kyle Moyes was 2-for-3 for the Falcons.

Legacy 13, Shadow Ridge 5 — At Shadow Ridge, Pierce Skinner and Joey Lauria each had a pair of doubles, and the Longhorns used a four-run fourth inning and a six-run sixth to clinch at least a share of the Northwest League title with a win over the Mustangs.

Dylan Baumgarte was 2-for-3 with two runs for Legacy. Winning pitcher Zach Monticelli added two hits, and Tyler Thurston added two hits, two runs and two RBIs for the Longhorns.

Josh Roelofs went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Sean Hobbs added two hits for the Mustangs.

Coronado 20, Del Sol 3 — At Del Sol, Taylor Giordano belted a grand slam to highlight a 13-run sixth inning that the Cougars used to pull away from the Dragons.

Chris Blake, Ryan Donahue, Cody Giordano, Taylor Giordano and Matt Hall had two hits apiece for Coronado.

Dillon Greer went 2-for-3 and David Day blasted a home run for Del Sol.

Bishop Gorman 11, Clark 0 — At Gorman, Kenny Meimerstorf was 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs to help the Gaels beat the Chargers in five innings.

Joey Gallo and Eric Van Meetren had home runs for Gorman.

Desert Oasis 17, Pahrump Valley 5 — At Desert Oasis, Mike Maiello was 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs to help the Diamondbacks cruise past the Trojans.

Brennen Stott was 2-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, and Matt Garrett was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs for Desert Oasis. The Diamondbacks had five triples.

Tyler Lepley went 2-for-3 with a run for Pahrump.

Arbor View 17, Mojave 4 — At Arbor View, Nick Urban went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, two RBIs and scored three runs to help the Aggies defeat the Rattlers in five innings.

Buddy Borden was 2-for-3 with two runs for Arbor View, which led 14-0 after two innings.

Spring Valley 25, Western 3 — R.J. Randal went 3-for-5 with four runs and six RBIs to help the Grizzlies rout the Warriors in five innings.

Scott Buchanan, Tyler Kartler, Aaron Blair and Johnny Hernandez each added three RBIs for Spring Valley.

Kartler, Blair and Randal each doubled twice.

Basic 13, Tech 0 — At Tech, Dean Gettman fired a five-inning one-hitter with four strikeouts to lift the Wolves past the Roadrunners.

Nelson Kent went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Basic, and teammate Marty Christensen homered and drove in three runs.

Laughlin 14, Lake Mead 4 — At Laughlin, Jorgen Davidson struck out six in a three-hitter to help the Cougars beat the Eagles in five innings.
