Roundup: C.J. Dornak fans 10 as Basic edges Liberty

C.J. Dornak allowed an unearned run on three hits in 6⅓ innings on Wednesday as Basic’s baseball team edged visiting Liberty, 2-1.

Dornak struck out 10 and walked two.

Garrett Giles had two hits and an RBI, and Kyle Turner provided a hit, a run, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base for the Wolves.

Andrew Gallegos doubled and scored for the Patriots.

Coronado 2, Silverado 0 — At Coronado, Taylor Darden spun five innings of two-hit ball with five strikeouts as the Cougars blanked the Skyhawks.

Braeden Ewing supplied a run-scoring double for Coronado, and Joey Calvert struck out two in two innings of relief to get the save.

Blake Zorne went 2-for-3 with two doubles for Silverado.

Durango 3, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Irvin Weems doubled home Duke Pahukoa in the top of the seventh as the Trailblazers held off the Bengals.

Pahukoa finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, and teammate Blake Logan went 3-for-3 with a run for Durango, which led 3-1 before allowing a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Julian DeLeon had two hits and an RBI, and Matthew Cox had a double and a run for Bonanza.

Las Vegas 6, Eldorado 5 — At Eldorado, Payton Miller earned the win in relief and provided a three-run double as the Wildcats slipped by the Sundevils.

Martin Simmons had two hits for Las Vegas, which took advantage of a passed ball that scored Brady Ojeda in the seventh to make it 6-4.

Braedon Carmack supplied two hits to pace Eldorado.

Desert Oasis 7, Spring Valley 3 — At Desert Oasis, Chaison Miklich was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer to help lift the Diamondbacks over the Grizzlies.

Zac Czerniawski and Izzy Gutierrez each had two hits and an RBI for Desert Oasis

Jason Sharman and Steven Giatti added two hits apiece for the Diamondbacks, who led 6-1 after three innings.

Michael Marraro doubled and drove in a run, and Braxton Bruschke was 2-for-3 with a triple for Spring Valley.

Foothill 9, Canyon Springs 1 — At Foothill, Jake Perales went 3-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI to help the Falcons defeat the Pioneers.

Gage Streit drove in two runs for Foothill, which scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away.

Andrew Hauck allowed an unearned run on three hits in five innings to get the win. He struck out nine with four walks.

Bishop Gorman 18, Clark 0 — At Clark, Austin Wells and Dutch Landis each went 2-for-2 with a home run, and Parker Aquino and Michael Morehead combined on a no-hitter as the Gaels blanked the Chargers in four innings.

Wells doubled, scored four runs and drove in three, and Landis had two runs and three RBIs for Gorman, which scored 11 runs in the third inning.

Aquino struck out four in two hitless innings to get the win. Morehead had one strikeout over two innings.

Rancho 11, Valley 0 — At Rancho, Layton Walls was 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and an RBI to help the Rams to the five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Jimmy Gamboa was 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, and Kagen Kennedy went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Rancho. Chayse Baker added a triple and three RBIs for the Rams.

Julio Chavez threw four scoreless innings to get the win. He allowed five hits, struck out four and walked none.
