ROUNDUP: Buzzard helps Warriors pick off Chargers

Daniel Buzzard’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning helped Western’s baseball team edge visiting Clark, 8-7 on Wednesday.

Buzzard also doubled earlier in the game and drove in three runs for Western, which got a double, a single and an RBI from Ryan Garbowski. Josh Yocum scored the winning run, earned a win in relief, and added two hits and an RBI for the Warriors.

Six of Clark’s nine hits were doubles.

Sierra Vista 12, Bonanza 2 — At Sierra Vista, Jake Hager hit two home runs, including a two-run shot to end the game in the bottom of the fifth, as the Mountain Lions cruised past the Bengals.

Armando Perez was 3-for-3 for Sierra Vista, and Scott Tomassetti hit a solo homer.

Travis Ming had a solo home run for Bonanza.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Cheyenne 5 — At Cimarron, Ryan Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs to help the Spartans defeat the Desert Shields.

Kevin Dorantes was 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs, for Cimarron, and teammates Nathan Hale, Cody Clark, Jonas Wellan and Drew Danziesen each added two hits for the Spartans.
Joey Cunha went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, two runs and two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Palo Verde 25, Mojave 2 — At Palo Verde, the Panthers scored 20 runs in the third inning and cruised to the five-inning win over the Rattlers.

Mark Marinch provided a triple and a grand slam, and Chris Hopballe hit a three-run homer for the Panthers.

Kevin DeSoto went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Palo Verde

Francisco Colin was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple to carry the Rattlers.

Spring Valley 18, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Pahrump, Kenny Hartlauer was 4-for-5 wih three runs and two RBIs, and Jose Rosales-Rodarte went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs to help the Grizzlies to the five-inning win.

Eddie Gomez went 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs for Spring Valley.

Bishop Gorman 24, Desert Oasis 10 — At Desert Oasis, Joey Gallo was 3-for-5 with three homers and six RBIs to lead the Gaels to an easy win over the Diamondbacks.

Jerrell Latham went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three runs and five RBIs, and Tommy Field was 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs and four RBIs for Gorman, which scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh.

Mike Maiello went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs to lead Desert Oasis.

Rancho 23, Bishop Manogue 2 — At Rancho, Eric Holdren homered, doubled, drove in three runs and earned the win on the mound as the Rams routed the Miners.

Zak Qualls added two homers, four runs and three RBIs for Rancho, which smacked six home runs.

Brandon Pletsch, Manny Llamas and Michael Cruz also homered for the Rams, who got two doubles and three RBIs from Kevin Kline.

Sean Dewesse doubled twice for Manogue.

Boulder City 20, Canyon Springs 6 — At Canyon Springs, Tanner Howell was 2-for-2 with two homers and six RBIs to help the Eagles to the five-inning win.

Nate Hafen went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI, Sean Hickey doubled twice and scored two runs, and Thomas Shelley added a double, a triple and two RBIs for Boulder City.

Jack LaMarca had a two-run homer and scored three times for the Eagles.

Rusty Marquetti was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Canyon Springs.

Coronado 20, Wooster 10 — At Wooster, Jordan Kingsley was 3-for-4 with six RBIs to help the Cougars defeat the Colts.

Kingsley’s grand slam highlighted a nine-run first inning for Coronado.

Cody Howard went 4-for-5 with three doubles, four RBIs and four runs, and Ryan Donahue added a triple and three RBIs for the Cougars, who got three hits, including a triple, from Chris Blake.

Matt Bowers had three hits and four RBIs to lead Wooster, which scored six runs in the second and cut the lead to 9-7 before allowing seven runs in the fourth.

Eldorado 4, Virgin Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Eric Larsen went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI to help the Sundevils hold on for a win over the Bulldogs.

Virgin Valley had the potential tying run on first base with no outs in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bulldogs were unable to score.

Chris Brown went 2-for-3 with a run for Eldorado.

Cameron Jensen was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Shadow Ridge 13, Moapa Valley 2 — At Overton, Bruce Butler went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, a double and two runs as the Mustangs rolled the Pirates in five innings.

Joey Liuzza was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Shadow Ridge, and teammate Troy Williams homered.

Galena 10, Las Vegas 9 — At Las Vegas, Jorge Medina’s double scored Jason McGraw with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning to lift the Grizzlies past the Wildcats.

Xavier Palmer went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for Las Vegas.

Jesse Acosta hit a three-run home run for the Wildcats, and teammates Justin Cheney and Dillon Dove each had two hits.

Wooster 20, Basic 19 — At Basic, the Wolves’ rally from a 14-1 deficit fell short.

Andy Chaves went 4-for-5 with three home runs, a double and four RBIs to lead Basic.

Matt Dembinski added a solo homer for the Wolves, and David Romero drove in three runs.
