Roundup: Aaron Roberts, Cole Schaefer combine on no-hitter for Desert Oasis

Aaron Roberts and Cole Schaefer combined on a no-hitter Thursday to lead the Desert Oasis baseball team to a 3-2 win over Clackamas (Oregon) in the Lions Tournament in Chula Vista, California.

Roberts allowed two unearned runs in six innings to get the win. He struck out eight, walked five and hit a batter. Schaefer struck out two in the seventh to earn the save.

Roberts also drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder’s choice in the sixth inning.

Izzy Gutierrez went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.

Bishop Gorman 10, Cathedral Catholic (Calif.) 2 — At San Diego, Christian Lamar was 2-for-5 with a home run, three runs and two RBIs to help the Gaels beat the Dons in the Lions Tournament.

Austin Wells went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Gavin Mez was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Gorman. Tyler Curtis, John Gaughan and Dutch Landis each added two hits for the Gaels.

Christian Unified (Calif.) 5, Green Valley 4 — At San Diego, Trent Nielsen scored on a sacrifice fly by Trace Ramos in the bottom of the 12th to give the Patriots the win over the Gators in the Lions Tournament.

Gavin Malcolm was 3-for-6 with two doubles and two run for Green Valley. Gavin Amelburu went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Carter Gehlken was 2-for-6 for the Gators.

Garrett Nelson led off the game with a homer for Green Valley.

Nielsen went 3-for-6 with two doubles for Christian Unified.

Canyon Crest (Calif.) 9, Rancho 2 — At Spring Valley, California, Cole Colleran was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs as the Ravens beat the Rams in the semifinals of the 6A Division at the Lions Tournament.

Kagen Kennedy went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Edarian Williams was 2-for-4 for Rancho. Jimmy Gamboa added a solo homer for the Rams.

Poway (Calif.) 4, Palo Verde 3 — At San Diego, Rylan Nigro’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Titans the win over the Panthers in the semifinals of the Classic Division at the Lions tournament.

Nate Bartlett went 3-for-4 with a double, and Peyton Cole was 3-for-4 with a run for Palo Verde.

Cleveland (Calif.) 6, Liberty 4 — At San Diego, Christopher Lozano was 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs to lead the Cavaliers over the Patriots.

Dylan San Nicolas went 2-for-2 with a double, a run and an RBI, and teammate Dawson Beard doubled and drove in two runs for Liberty.

Granite Hills (Calif.) 4, Silverado 2 — At El Cajon, California, Eric Hogan allowed a run on three hits in five innings to lead the Eagles over the Skyhawks in the Lions Tournament.

Sean Graves was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Silverado.

IMG Academy (Fla.) 7, Coronado 0 — At Bradenton, Florida, Heston Tole threw six shutout innings to lead the Ascenders over the Cougars in the IMG National Classic.

Tole allowed five hits and struck out seven.

Cristian Herrera was 1-for-3 with a double for Coronado.
