RECRUITING: Silverado’s Taormina commits to UNLV
Silverado junior Vince Taormina made an oral commitment to UNLV, Skyhawks baseball coach Brian Whitaker said.
Taormina's commitment is nonbinding and he cannot sign a letter of intent until November. The Rebels' coaches cannot comment on Taormina until that time.
Taormina, a 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound catcher, batted .376 with four homers and 26 RBIs as a sophomore for the Skyhawks last season. He was a second-team All-Southern Nevada selection and a first-team All-Sunrise Region pick.
Taormina also was named a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
