NOTES: Cimarron-Memorial wrestler Longmire honored
Cimarron-Memorial wrestler Britain Longmire was named the Nevada winner of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and USA Wrestling.
Longmire now can attend a camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., from June 15 to 18 to work with members of the U.S. Olympic and World Team.
A three-time state champion, Longmire has signed to wrestle at Cal Poly.
SEASON OVER — Agassi Prep will forfeit the rest of its baseball season because of academic ineligibility issues, athletic director Carl Britt said Wednesday. The Stars were left with seven active players.
The team’s six remaining scheduled games were Class 2A Southern League contests. It will close the season with nine forfeits and a 2-24 record.
GYMNASTICS CHAMPION — Green Valley freshman Taylor Rice won the all-around competition at the Region 1 meet in Sacramento, Calif., on April 17. Rice will compete in the national event May 16 in Seattle.
