NIAA changes sites of Division I-A region baseball, softball tournament games

Due to unsafe conditions at Mojave’s baseball field, the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has altered the Division I-A Southern Region baseball and softball tournaments.

The NIAA announced Wednesday morning that the game between Moapa Valley and Mojave at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday has been moved to Overton. Mojave still will be the home team in the game.

Also, the final three days of both the baseball and softball tournaments, which were scheduled for Mojave, will be played at a site to be determined.

The NIAA will name a site Wednesday afternoon.

The backstop at Mojave’s baseball field was damaged by a recent wind gust and was determined by the Clark County School District to be unsafe.

One other Wednesday game was moved.

The Cheyenne vs. Tech game will be played at Cheyenne at 3:30 p.m. Tech’s school field is unplayable, and the Roadrunners’ temporary home field at Silver Bowl Park is unavailable. Tech will remain the home team at Cheyenne.
