Former Southern Nevada baseball players named freshmen All-Americans

Two former Southern Nevada baseball players have been named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American team.

Arizona third baseman Nick Quintana (Arbor View) and UNLV shortstop Bryson Stott (Desert Oasis) were selected.

Quintana, who started 58 of 59 games for Arizona this season, batted .293 with 17 doubles, six home runs, 38 RBIs. He also scored 42 runs, and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection. He was one of 14 third baseman selected.

Stott was named Freshman of The Year in the Mountain West Conference after hitting .294 with 11 doubles, two triples, one home run and 29 RBIs. He was one of six shortstops to be selected.

As high school seniors, both players were named first-team all-state in 2016. Stott was named the Division I Sunset Region Player of the Year, while Quintana led Southern Nevada with 15 home runs.

Quintana was drafted in the 11th round (328th overall) by the Boston Red Sox, but opted to attend Arizona.
