Palo Verde boys basketball star Moses Morgan is still researching the colleges recruiting him, but the junior swingman hasn’t had to look far for advice on Indiana.
He can simply turn to his father, Winston Morgan, who was a standout forward for the Hoosiers in the 1980s.
Though he doesn’t expect to make an oral commitment until summer, Moses Morgan said Indiana tops the list of schools he is considering.
“The tradition they have there and coach (Tom) Crean, I love,” said Moses Morgan, who has made an unofficial visit to Michigan and plans to visit Indiana in June.
Indiana is followed on Morgan’s list by Michigan and Marquette. He also has offers from UNLV and Texas Tech. Utah, Texas and Oklahoma recently expressed interest.
The 6-foot-5-inch Morgan said he is being recruited as a swingman, though he played some post for Palo Verde as a junior. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 68 overall prospect in the class of 2010.
He averaged 17 points and 7.5 rebounds as a junior, leading the Panthers to a 24-6 record and the Class 4A state final.
“I think we still have a chance to go back to state,” Morgan said. “We have a lot of returners coming back. We just have to work hard in the offseason and we’ll be back.”
