RECRUITING: Bishop Gorman junior DE Adam Plant commits to Arizona

Bishop Gorman junior defensive end Adam Plant Jr. made an oral commitment to Arizona on Wednesday night, announcing his decision on Twitter.

Plant’s commitment is nonbinding, and the first day he can sign a letter of intent is Feb. 7. Arizona’s coaches cannot comment until that time.

“I am honored and proud to announce that I will be committing to the University Of Arizona,” Plant wrote.

Plant, at 6 feet 4 inches and 240 pounds, is rated as one of the state’s top 10 prospects in the class of 2018 by every major internet recruiting service.

He had early scholarship offers from Penn State and Southern California and was drawing interest from several Power 5 schools before selecting the Wildcats.

As a junior, Plant had 25 tackles and 1½ sacks for Gorman.
