WRESTLING: Zernich earns quick pin as Gators top Falcons

Wallace Zernich pinned his 126-pound opponent in 1 minute, 38 seconds Thursday to help Green Valley’s wrestling team to a 44-33 win over host Foothill.

Collin Burbank (113), Nick Klanian (138), Adrian Ojeda (145) and Giullian Nakamatsu (152) also won by pin for the Gators.

Wyatt English (106), Bobby Merritt (170), Charles Atkerson (195), Josh Ozuna (220) and R.J. Banos (285) won by pin for the Falcons.

Spring Valley 57, Cheyenne 21 — At Cheyenne, Tyler Nishi-Rivera won his 120-pound match by pin in just 14 seconds to help the Grizzlies top the Desert Shields.

Zach Pakulak (160) and Taevian Jacobs (285) also won by fall for Spring Valley.

Chase Mikesell (106), Cajuin Jackson (170) and Kristian Chacon (182) won by pin for Cheyenne.

Centennial 63, Desert Oasis 12 — At Desert Oasis, Earl Teopaco’s pin in 38 seconds at 138 pounds helped the Bulldogs roll past the Diamondbacks.

Tucker Edwards (132), Brett Giles (152), Demarion Shumate (160), David Porter (170), Roger Alvarado (220) and Jordan Lewis (285) also won by pin for Centennial.

Daniel Costa (106) recorded a pin for Desert Oasis.
