WRESTLING: Liberty edges Coronado

Liberty’s wrestling team dominated the lower weights Wednesday, winning five of the six lightest classes to edge visiting Coronado, 40-39.

Antony Betancourt (113 pounds), Julian Watkins (126), Mason Ramsey (132), Caleb Wright (138), Nathatic Kendrick (195) won by fall for the Patriots.

Coronado recorded four pins, including the two heaviest classes.

Cole White (152), Jason D’Richards (160), Noah Moreno (220) and Nathaniel Tomisato (285) won by fall for the Cougars.

Centennial 39, Cimarron-Memorial 30 — At Cimarron, the Bulldogs won the final two matches to top the Spartans.

Brian Clark won by pin in 24 seconds at 182 pounds to give Centennial a 36-30 lead. Max Barnes then edged Cimarron’s Ibrahim Hassan 13-12 at 195 to seal the victory.

Mac Tyra (132), Nico Antuna (138), Nicholas Kilgore (170) and Arath Rangel (285) also won by fall for the Bulldogs.

Lance Crespo (106), Nathaniel Rodriguez (120) and Cristian Rodriguez (160) had pins for Cimarron.

Foothill 48, Silverado 24 — At Silverado, the Falcons recorded three first-period pins en route to the win over the Skyhawks.

Wyatt English had the quickest pin, winning by fall in 35 seconds at 138.

Micah Schneider (132) and Earnest Barlow (195) also had first-period pins for the Falcons. Tyler Hickman (152), Berklee Barlow (170) and Julian Bradley (285) also won by fall for Foothill.

Angelo Cosio (120) and David Carraco (182) won by fall for Silverado.

Pahrump Valley 51, Cheyenne 27 — At Pahrump, Wyatt Plant pinned his opponent in just 37 seconds at 113 pounds to lead the Trojans over the Desert Shields.

Dylan Grossell (132), Peter Ulisses (145), Garrett Monje (170) and Christian Monje (182) also won by fall for Pahrump, which won three matches by forfeit.

Cheyenne’s Christopher Menzon won by fall in 26 seconds at 126 pounds, and teammates Shon Lewis (220) and Chance Franz (285) also had pins.

Arbor View 56, Palo Verde 16 — At Arbor View, the Aggies won five matches by fall en route to the win over the Panthers.

Peyton Prussin (106), Tristan Gallagher (113), Caleb Strickland (126), Ryder Marchello (145) and Donavan Smith (170) recorded pins for Arbor View.

Palo Verde won the three heaviest weight classes, including pins by David Rivera (220) and Kaimana Phillips (285).

Desert Pines 72, Sunrise Mountain 9 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Jaguars won five matches by fall en route to the easy win over the Miners.

Keven Gomez pinned his opponent in 33 seconds at 182 pounds for the Jaguars, who also won seven matches by forfeit.

Abregno Gomez (113), Xavier Gonzalez (120), Alexander Petrana (126) and Adalberto Santiago (170) also won by fall for Desert Pines.

Sunrise Mountain’s Victor Zarate won by fall at 220, and teammate Fabian Lara won 2-1 in double overtime at 285.

Mojave 66, Western 14 — At Western, the Rattlers won the five matches by pin and five by forfeit in a win over the Warriors.

Kevin D’Luna (106), Michael Childs (126), Marcos Salas (132), Akil West (138) and Matthew Rodgers (145) had pins for Mojave.

Angeli Vigilia won by pin at 113 for Western.

Green Valley 76, Basic 4 — At Green Valley, Will Zernich (113), David Kalayanaprapruit (120) and Dylan Warr (182) each won by fall in less than a minute to help the Gators rout the Wolves.

Desmond Bowers (138), Giullian Nakamatsu (160) and Cade Van Orden (220) also won by pin for the Gators. Green Valley also won six matches by forfeit.
