WRESTLING: Daffer, Pahrump defeat Western

Kevin Daffer's win by decision at 152 pounds started a run of six victories in the seven heaviest weight classes as Pahrump Valley's wrestling team defeated visiting Western, 45-34 on Wednesday.

Isaac Davis (170 pounds) and Brandon Bunker (220) also won by pin for the Trojans.

Diego Ortega (113), Abraham Navas (120), Randel Rivera (138), Luis Lopez (145) and Nathan Kurashima (182) all won by fall for the Warriors.

Pahrump Valley 63, Cheyenne 18 — At Pahrump, Garrett Monje needed only 1:32 to pin his opponent at 160 pounds and help the Trojans down the Desert Shields.

Dylan Olivenius (113), Gino Gusman (126), Antonio Sandoval (132), Drew Walker (138), Davis (170) and Bunker (285) also won by pin for Pahrump.

Angelo Avila (106), Cajuin Jackson (182) and Shon Lewis (220) won by pin for Cheyenne.

Western 42, Cheyenne 30 — At Pahrump, Luis Malafavon won by pin 1:22 in the heavyweight class to help the Warriors top the Desert Shields.

Ortega (113), Rivera (138), Lopez (145) and Kurashima (182) also recorded pins for Western.

Calvin Agabin (126) and Tyler Buchanan (160) won by fall for Cheyenne.

Silverado 36, Liberty 34 — At Silverado, Alexander Dominguez (195) won by pin in 1:01 to help the Skyhawks top the Patriots.

Landon Holm (138) and Dean Doss (220) also won by pin for Silverado.

Travis Colisao (106), Adam Knopow (113), Jonathan Halk (145) and Bryson Delacruz (160) won by fall for Liberty.

Arbor View 36, Cimarron-Memorial 27 — At Cimarron, Destry Talledo (170) won by fall to help the Aggies defeat the Spartans.

Daniel Rodriguez (120), Davin Maiden (160) and Nathaniel Garcia (195) all won by pin for Cimarron.

Desert Pines 60, Chaparral 24 — At Desert Pines, Xavier Gonzalez recorded a pin at 113 pounds and was the only Jaguar to win a contested match in a rout of the Cowboys.

Desert Pines won nine matches by forfeit.

Jesus Ruiz (182), Luis Villanueva (195) and Chris Cooke (285) each won by pin for Chaparral.

Spring Valley 53, Faith Lutheran 19 — At Spring Valley, Marlon Decoud (152) won by pin in just 16 seconds to help the Grizzlies top the Crusaders.

Scott Diaz (106), Jesse Diaz (113) and Andres Garcia (120) also recorded pins for Spring Valley.

Connor Bourne (170) and Cameron Cox (195) won by pin for Faith Lutheran.
