ROUNDUP: Sheehan’s two-hit shutout keeps Cimarron on leaders’ heels

Carrie Sheehan pitched a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts to help Cimarron-Memorial’s softball team defeat visiting Palo Verde 2-0 on Monday.

Sheehan allowed one walk for the Spartans, who remained a game behind Centennial and Shadow Ridge for the Northwest League lead.

Cimarron did its scoring in the fifth inning. Stephanie Kaplan doubled, took third on Starlyn Thomas’s singled and scored on an error.

Nora Murphy’s RBI single scored Thomas, who went 2-for-3.

Palo Verde’s Missy McCormick struck out 11 while tossing a six-hitter.

Centennial 9, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Lindsey Konopelko struck out 14, threw a five-hitter, hit a home run and had three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs over the Desert Shields.

Centennial’s Johnna Brown was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, and Camille Castro went 3-for-4.

Arbor View 13, Mojave 0 — At Arbor View, Courtney Kinsel had two hits, four RBIs and a stolen base for the Aggies, who scored 10 runs in the second inning to beat the Rattlers in five innings.

Christine Callahan was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two steals, and Amanda Jones pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Shadow Ridge 12, Legacy 3 — At Legacy, the Mustangs coasted past the Longhorns, taking a 10-0 lead with five runs in the first and third innings.

Rae-Ann Bohm and Mandy Harmon both had two hits and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge.

Sierra Pico went 2-for-4 with a triple for Legacy, and Kaylan Hanson was 3-for-3 with a RBI.

Silverado 2, Basic 0 — At Basic, Katie Devlin pitched a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and a walk as the Skyhawks blanked the Wolves.

Amanda Delgado’s two-out single knocked in both runs.

Lacey Romo threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Basic.

Tech 4, Del Sol 2 — At Del Sol, Amanda Roark struck out 12 in a two-hitter and was 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Roadrunners edged the Dragons.

Liberty 10, Coronado 3 — At Coronado, Francesca Foti was 2-for-4 with four RBIs as the Patriots defeated the Cougars.

Carson Cooper had two triples, an RBI and three runs for Liberty.

Coronado’s Allie Amato went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Bonanza 4, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Courtney Spencer threw a three-hitter with four strikeouts as the Bengals shut out the Grizzlies.

Brittany Spencer (2-for-4) and Emily Osborn knocked in two runs each, and Nicolette Lind and Courtney Spencer also had two hits.

Spring Valley’s Jasmine Wilson went 2-for-2 with a triple.

Clark 6, Pahrump Valley 5 — At Clark, the Chargers scored three runs in the sixth and beat visiting Pahrump Valley.

Elisa Dawson was 2-for-3 with a home run for Clark, and Julie Hagen (two RBIs) and J.J. Fukuda also went 2-for-3.

Durango 12, Bishop Gorman 0 — At Majestic Park, Nicole Herrera struck out 10 and doubled to help the Trailblazers beat the Gaels.

Jaexie Balilea had a home run and three RBIs for Durango. Claudia Franco tripled for Bishop Gorman.

Sierra Vista 18, Western 3 — At Western, Ashley Krumme was 4-for-5 with two doubles, five runs and three RBIs to carry the Mountain Lions past the Warriors.

Maria Capparelli, Domenica Bianco and Kaylene Sales each had two hits and two RBIs for Sierra Vista. Karla Castellanos was 2-for-3 with two runs.
