ROUNDUP: Desert Pines girls open up two-game lead in Northeast League

Andrea Jefferson poured in 25 points Thursday, and Desert Pines’ girls basketball team used a 21-2 second-quarter run on their way to a 53-30 win at Valley.

LaBrea Walker added 18 points for the Jaguars, who improved to 7-0 in Northeast League play and opened a two-game lead over the Vikings (5-2) with five games remaining.

Christine Davis had 15 points for Valley.

Eldorado 44, Canyon Springs 43 — At Canyon Springs, Areania Hewing made one of two free throws with 14 seconds left to give the Sundevils the win over the Pioneers.

Sabrina Evans led Eldorado with 13 points.

Skotasia Thomas and Janelle Terry each scored 10 points for Canyon Springs.Terry made 8 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Las Vegas 52, Chaparral 34 — At Chaparral, Kelli Descheney scored 11 points to lead the Wildcats past the Cowboys.

Shrae Jackson added 10 points for Las Vegas.

Natriana Shorter and Desiree Pierce each scored 12 points for Chaparral.

Arbor View 49, Mojave 39 — At Arbor View, Erika Lang scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Aggies in their win over the Rattlers.

JaLeesa Williams scored 11 points for Arbor View.

Jazzmine Robinson led Mojave with 18 points, and teammate Clarissa Cannon added 12.

Centennial 87, Cheyenne 22 — At Cheyenne, Alexis Byrd scored 22 points for the Bulldogs in their win over the Desert Shields.
Deanna Daniels scored 19 points and Courtney Hayes 11 for Centennial.

Taylor Bosley led Cheyenne with six points, on two fourth-quarter 3-pointers.

Palo Verde 54, Cimarron-Memorial 41 — At Cimarron, Hayley Henderson drained four first-half 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to help the Panthers top the Spartans.

Andrea Perez added 10 points for Palo Verde.

Catherine Wyre led the Spartans with 14 points, and teammate Veronica Alcala scored 13.

Legacy 57, Shadow Ridge 30 — At Legacy, Kindrea Poole had 15 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Longhorns past the Mustangs.
Breanah Manley added 10 points for Legacy.

Niki Lawson led Shadow Ridge with 10 points.

Silverado 63, Basic 41 — At Basic, Mikayla Thielges and Shea Collins combined for 24 first-half points, helping the Skyhawks to a 41-17 lead en route to the win.

Thielges had 10 of her 20 points in the first half. Collins, who scored 14 points in the first half, finished with 19.

Noemi Hernandez led the Wolves with 12 points, and teammate Marquichea Burns added 10.

Liberty 55, Coronado 26 — At Coronado, Daynice Cochran scored 10 of her 11 points in the first half, helping the Patriots grab a 33-12 halftime lead and cruise past the Cougars.

Phoebe Baker led Liberty with 18 points, and teammate Destiny Whitehead added 10.

Courtney Whitaker led Coronado with eight points.

Green Valley 54, Foothill 44 — At Foothill, Jazmine Jarvis went 9 of 12 from the free-throw line and finished with a game-high 23 points to help the Gators hold off the Falcons.

Vajae Robinson added 13 points and Danielle Christenson 12 for Green Valley.

Desirae Ayala scored 15 points for Foohtill, which trailed by four points with two minutes to play before beginning to foul. Chantelle Monga chipped in 13 points and Mercedes Starr 11 for the Falcons.
