Sierra Vista sweeps Las Vegas in boys volleyball

Zach Waldron had 62 assists to lead Sierra Vista’s boys volleyball team to a 27-25, 25-23, 25-22 road win over defending state champion Las Vegas on Thursday.

Kohl Homeyer had 21 kills and Marvi Sanchez 19 for the Mountain Lions. Percival Miranda added 23 digs for Sierra Vista.

Danny Farias led Las Vegas with 18 assists and five digs. Aaron Hanson added eight kills and Matt Hagen five digs for the Wildcats.

Foothill 3, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Britain Rosenberg had 29 assists and Cody Clay 10 kills as the Falcons downed the Diamondbacks, 25-7, 25-14, 25-13.

F.J. Funtila added six kills for Foothill.

Trevor Zarvian had 15 assists for Desert Oasis.

Rancho 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Kevin Wadsworth dished out 13 assists in the Rams’ 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 win over the Longhorns.

Kevin Plascencia and Antonio Boucher each had five kills for the Rams.

Hector Bojado had 11 assists, Ben Noll nine kills and Irvin Divon four aces for Legacy.

Palo Verde 3, Durango 0 — At Durango, Matt Lish had 18 assists to help the Panthers to a 25-18, 25-9, 25-16 win over the Trailblazers.

Ryan Capko added eight kills and Shaun Carroll five for the Panthers.

Arbor View 3, Eldorado 0  — At Eldorado, Ray Lewis has 12 kills as the Aggies swept the Sundevils, 25-23, 25-7, 25-19.

Taylor Jones added nine assists and Jesse Morgan eight assists and four aces for Arbor View.

Trey Pictum had eight assists and three blocks and Kaiden Shakespear eight digs and four aces for Eldorado.

Bonanza 3, Valley 1 — At Valley, Dustin Tippitts had 25 assists and four aces to lead the Bengals to a 25-13, 25-17, 13-25, 25-13 victory over the Vikings.

Scott Davis, Price Jarman and John Grady each added seven kills for Bonanza.

Alonzo Blount had 11 kills and Jim Videaux-Deaguila 15 assists for Valley.

Tech 3, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Johnny Wyrick had eight kills to lead the Roadrunners to a 25-15, 25-12, 25-11 win over the Rattlers.

Mike Maglich added four kills and five aces for Tech.

Chaparral 3, Clark 1 — At Clark, the Cowboys lost the first game and then rebounded to win three straight and down the Chargers, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21.

DeAndre Marshall had 13 kills and seven blocks and Carlos Chandia 12 assists for Chaparral. Also for the Cowboys, Luis Tell had five kills and five blocks, LeAndre Dunbar five kills and three blocks and Wayne To’o four assists and four blocks.

Chris Henriksen had six kills for Clark.

Cheyenne 3, Canyon Springs 1 — At Canyon Springs, the Desert Shields defeated the Pioneers, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21.

John Padilla, Eduardo Contreras and J.T. Washington each had six kills for Canyon Springs.

Desert Pines 3, Western 0 — At Desert Pines, Michael Tran dished out 24 assists to lead the Jaguars to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-14 win over the Warriors.

Dalton Leilua added 10 kills, Alan Paganelli seven digs and Dominique Lawrence seven aces for Desert Pines.

Kyler Smith had 22 digs for Western.

Shadow Ridge 3, Basic 0 — At Basic, Ryan Nolan had 12 kills and Jake Shea 11 as the Mustangs downed the Wolves, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17.

Jeff Elmer had 12 digs and Jeremy Makaiwi 37 assists for Shadow Ridge.

Jordan Pils had eight kills and six blocks, Mike Lunen 17 assists and Jenson Lavallee six kills for Basic.
