ROUNDUP: Liberty topples Sierra Vista in tiebreaker in boys tennis

Cyrus Wongwui and Marcelo Rios combined to go 3-0 in doubles Thursday, and Liberty won a tiebreaker to edge past host Sierra Vista, 10-9, in boys tennis.

Chris Ma and P.J. Miranda went 3-0 in doubles for Sierra Vista.

Faith Lutheran 14, Western 4 — At Western, Tom Trowbridge and Jake Benowitz each went 2-0 in singles to lead Faith Lutheran to the program’s first win in its inaugural season.

Kyler Smith went 2-1 in singles for the Warriors. Western’s Brian Marshall and Jacob Hansen teamed to go 2-0 in doubles.

Bishop Gorman 11, Green Valley 7 — At Gorman, Kyle Del Rosario and Ryan Hidajat went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Gaels over the Gators.

Green Valley’s Evan Song was 3-0 in singles.

Shadow Ridge 12, Canyon Springs 6 — At Shadow Ridge, two doubles teams each went 2-0 as the Mustangs downed the Pioneers.

The teams of Justin Kent and Greg Smith, and John Popp and Keaton Ulrich each won their two sets for Shadow Ridge.

Josh Jones was 3-0 in singles for Canyon Springs.

Centennial 18, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Austin Howell and Travis Beck each went 2-0 in singles as the Bulldogs rolled.

Tyler Rogers and John Arias were 2-0 in doubles for Centennial.

Palo Verde 11, Coronado 7 — At Coronado, the Panthers took three tiebreakers from the Cougars to earn the victory.

Fernando Sunago, who finished 3-0 in singles, led Palo Verde. Dillon Berkabile and Josh Levinson finished 2-0 in doubles for the Panthers.

The Cougars’ doubles team of Xavier Smith and Mathew Dees went 2-1.

Clark 18, Desert Pines 0 — At Desert Pines, the Chargers netted a perfect outing against Jaguars.

William Feng was 3-0 and Nevin Endy 2-0 in singles.

The Chargers’ doubles team of Bobby Ou and Steven Lin finished 2-0.

Bonanza 16, The Meadows 2 — At Bonanza, Darren Dye and Craig Whiting each went 2-0 in singles on a day when the Bengals played their entire roster and breezed past The Meadows.

Silverado 14, Cheyenne 4 — At Silverado, returning state doubles qualifiers Dillon McNamara and Devon Morrissey split up to play singles, and each went 2-0 to lead the Skyhawks.

Eldorado 12, Tech 6 — At Tech, Jung Park went 3-0 in singles to lead the Sundevils over the Roadrunners.

Boulder City 10, Moapa Valley 8 — At Boulder City, Nick Stevens and Travis Robinson each went 3-0 in singles to lead the Eagles past Moapa Valley.

Las Vegas 11, Cimarron-Memorial 7 — At Las Vegas, Val Shively went 2-1 in singles as the Wildcats downed the Spartans.
Kate Johnesee went 3-0 and Starlyn Thomas 2-1 in singles for Cimarron.

Arbor View 18, Rancho 0 — At Arbor View, Neil Anderson, Jeff Scheurman and John Lester each went 3-0 in singles as the Aggies swept Rancho.

Chaparral 10, Del Sol 9 — At Del Sol, D.J. Grassie went 3-0 in singles to lead the Cowboys over the Dragons.

Chaparral won in a tiebreaker 30-27.

Basic 17, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Ryan Murphy went 3-0 in singles, and Juan Medrano was 2-0 to lead the Wolves to the easy win.

Foothill 18, Desert Oasis 0 — At Desert Oasis, Foothill blanked the host Diamondbacks.

Valley 18, Legacy 0 — At Valley, the Vikings were forfeit winners after Legacy did not show up for the match.
