ROUNDUP: Herrera breaks tie, leads Tech over Silverado


Jesus Herrera scored the winning goal with seven minutes remaining to lead host Tech to a 2-1 boys soccer win over Silverado on Monday.

Santiago Corona crossed the ball into Herrera, who drove it into the back of the net. Herrera also had an assist for the Roadrunners, who trailed 1-0 at the half.

Jose Guiza had Tech’s first goal. Kyle Mellies scored for the Skyhawks.

Green Valley 6, Basic 0 — At Green Valley, Mitch Anderson and Matt Dabas each scored twice to lead the Gators past Basic.
Andrew Buendia and Kyle Puterfield also scored for Green Valley.

Ace Evans and Andrew Hendrickson combined on the shutout.

Del Sol 0, Liberty 0 — At Liberty, Jake Durski made 16 saves for the Patriots as the teams played to a tie. Jorge Serrano had six saves for Del Sol.

Coronado 2, Foothill 1 — At Foothill, Jake LeClaire  scored two goals, including the winner with 10 minutes remaining, to lift Coronado over Foothill.

Cimarron-Memorial 4, Cheyenne 1 — At Cimarron-Memorial, the host Spartans did all their scoring in the first half to beat Cheyenne.

Scotty Beckwith and Kevin Romero each had a goal and an assist for the Spartans. Agustine Gamboa and Ben Schultz also scored.
Jose Orellana had Cheyenne’s goal.

Palo Verde 2, Arbor View 0 — At Palo Verde, Francisco Rivero broke a scoreless tie in the 55th minute, and Justin Mayorga added a goal to lead the Panthers past Arbor View.

Colton McCann made five saves to earn the shutout.

Legacy 2, Mojave 1 — At Mojave, Ricky Acero scored twice, including the winner with seven minutes to play, as Legacy nipped Mojave.

Javie Gutierrez scored for the Rattlers.

Centennial 4, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Centennial, Kevin Rogge scored three goals to carry the Bulldogs to a 3-0 halftime lead and they cruised to the win.

Joey Porrello also scored for Centennial, and Isaac Ramirez had two assists.

Tyler McAnInch and Julien Mihy combined for the shutout.
