Boulder City sophomore Luke Logan, who last month won the Division I-A boys state golf title, has been named the Division I-A Sunset League Player of the Year by the coaches.

Logan, who also won the I-A Southern Region title, highlighted the All-Southern Nevada team, along with Sunset League Player of the Year John Bowers of Faith Lutheran.

Also on the All-Southern Nevada team are Virgin Valley’s Kadan Atkin, Boulder City’s T.J. Hatfield and Christian Hudleson, Faith Lutheran’s Alex Church, J.R. Tuls and Dallas Haun, Moapa Valley’s Jacob Causey and Pahrump Valley’s Dalton Beighley.

Faith Lutheran’s Mark Cheney was Coach of the Year.

HALL CHOOSES AZTECS — Valley rising senior defensive end Noble Hall orally committed to San Diego State.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 235-pound Hall was known as Eric Burrell before he legally changed his name in December to honor his father, who was killed before Hall was born.

Hall also has offers from Army, Idaho and Northern Arizona, and is being recruited by Boise State, New Mexico State, Texas-El Paso, UNLV and Utah, according to Rivals.com.

LACROSSE HONORS — Coronado senior Kieran Eissler was among five players chosen by US Lacrosse as Bob Scott Award winners for dedication to the sport and its development in the community.
