The Mountain Lions’ 31 points barely edged Legacy (32), which was followed by Chaparral (81), Western (106) and Henderson International (115).
Legacy’s Zack Ipson won the 2.5-mile race in 14 minutes, 40 seconds. Sierra Vista’s Mitchell Paul (15:27) and Mark Ferrer (15:31) took second and third, respectively.
Palo Verde places three in top four
At Valley, Palo Verde had three of the top four finishers to easily win a five-team meet.
The Panthers had a team score of 28. Las Vegas and Valley each scored 63, with Las Vegas claiming second place based on the sixth-runner tiebreaker. Moapa Valley was fourth with 90, followed by Virgin Valley with 124.
Palo Verde’s Daniel Wicks won the 2.65-mile race in 14:17. Teammate Sebastian Karbowniczek was second in 14:38, followed by Las Vegas’ Aaron Adkins in 14:39 and Palo Verde’s Zach Smith in 14:40.
Shadow Ridge’s Mahar claims first place
At Deer Springs Park, Shadow Ridge’s Sammy Mahar won individually in 14:34.
Team scores and times for other finishers at the four-team meet on a 2.7-mile course were unavailable, though Shadow Ridge’s Jonathan Clark was second, and Silverado’s Jered Heater was third.
Clark takes top three spots, wins meet
At Rancho, Clark swept the top three spots en route to winning a three-team meet.
The Chargers had a score of 22. Basic was second with 58, followed by Rancho with 63.
Clark’s Jacob Naylor won the 2.7-mile race in 16:38. Troy Goudge was second in 17:19 with Jordan Kofford taking third in 17:27.
GIRLSPrince helps Shadow Ridge capture crown
At Deer Springs Park, Palolo Prince ran a 2.7-mile course in 18:01 to lead Shadow Ridge’s girls to a victory in a four-team meet.
Shadow Ridge had a team score of 22. Silverado was second with 59, followed by Eldorado (80) and Desert Oasis (85).
Prince was one of four Mustangs packed in the top five spots. Eldorado’s Claudia Gonzalez was second in 18:21.
Shadow Ridge runners Ashley Graf (18:28), Elaina Vlassopoulous (18:30) and Mallory Reese (18:31) took the next three spots.
Koch leads Palo Verde to win
At Valley, Palo Verde’s Kelsi Koch won a 2.65-mile race in 18:17 to lead the Panthers to a win.
Palo Verde had a team score of 22. Valley was second with 45. Las Vegas took third with 68. Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley did not field full teams.
Valley’s Wendy Villa took second in 18:33.
Sierra Vista wins four-team meet
At Sierra Vista, the host didn’t have a runner finish in the top three, but still won a four-team meet.
The Mountain Lions had a team score of 35. Legacy was second with 41 points, followed by Chaparral (65) and Western (93).
Legacy’s Ashley Stichaus won the 2.5-mile race in 19:34, one second faster than teammate Skye Luchsinger. Western’s Lourdes Hernandez was third in 19:53.
Clark girls hold off Basic
At Rancho, Clark’s Elisa Vazquez took second to help the Chargers hold off Basic.
Clark won the meet with a score of 38. Basic had a score of 53. No other schools fielded a complete team.
Canyon Springs’ Heather Hollinger won the 2.7-mile race in 19:31. Vazquez finished in 19:32.
