ROUNDUP: Durango’s boys place six runners in top 10

Durango’s boys placed six runners in the top 10 on Tuesday to win a five-team meet at Desert Oasis.

Donovan Lewis (15 minutes, 12.3 seconds) and Patrick Manley (15:19.1) finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Trailblazers, who finished with 26 points.

Cimarron- Memorial was second with 46, followed by Desert Oasis (79), Virgin Valley (97) and Bishop Gorman.

Virgin Valley’s Sam Sylvester nipped Lewis for the individual win in the 2.5-mile race, posting a time of 15:12.0.

Roadrunners place three in top five
At Sunset Park, Tech placed three in the top five and five in the top eight to win a four-team meet with 26 points.
Silverado (49) was second, followed by Valley (57) and Rancho (112).

Eduardo Cordova led the Tech contingent, finishing second in the 2.65-mile race in 15:21.

Valley’s Solomon Belay won the race in 15:09.

Falcons sweep top five spots
At Foothill, the Falcons placed eight in the top 10 to place first with a team score of 15.

Basic (48) was second, followed by Desert Pines (83).

Chris Perrine won the 2.5-mile race in 14:18.1. He was followed by fellow Falcons Brian Arvizu (14:24.1), Corey Holmstrom (14:39.5) and Carl Greene (14:43.9).

Palo Verde puts three in top four
At Floyd Lamb Park, Palo Verde's Daniel Wicks won the race in 17:37 with teammates Zach Smith and Sebastian Karbowniczek taking third and fourth, respectively, as the Panthers won a five-team meet.

Palo Verde had a team score of 27. Arbor View was second with 41, followed by Bonanza (71), Sierra Vista (96) and Pahrump Valley (115).

Arbor View's Greg Marschik was second in the 3.1-mile race, finishing in 18:01.

Gaven leads Liberty to win
At Mountain View Park, Liberty's Al Gaven won the 2.25-mile race in 13:34 and led the Patriots to a win in a four-team meet.

Liberty had 26 points. Spring Valley was second with 43, followed by Laughlin with 63 and River Valley (Ariz.) with 80.

Spring Valley's Ricky Barcenas took second in 13:48.
