ROUNDUP: Cougar girls sweep Freshman-Sophomore Championships

Coronado placed three runners in the top 10 on Tuesday to place first in the sophomore race at the Bud O’Dea Freshman-Sophomore Championships at Desert Breeze Park.

The Cougars finished with 44 points. Arbor View (85) was second, followed by Palo Verde (107), Green Valley (117) and Centennial (125).

Centennial’s Brittany Williams won the 2.5-mile race in 16 minutes, 53 seconds.

Arbor View’s Courtney Willey (17:08) was second, and Coronado’s Kristal Hosaka (17:16) third.

In the freshman girls race, Coronado edged Arbor View 81-89 to win the title.

Coronado’s Samantha Harrison placed second in 17:41. Bishop Gorman’s Brielle Crovetti was the individual winner, finishing in 17:08. Foothill’s Sage Long was third in 17:42.


Carl Greene's individual win led Foothill to the team title in the sophomore race at the Bud O'Dea Freshman-Sophomore Championships.

Green won the race in 13:39. Moapa Valley's Josh Thompson was second in 14:06, and Arbor View's Adonis Gaines third in 14:28.

Foothill finished with 77 points. Arbor View (97) was second and Centennial (110) third.

In the freshman boys race, Basic had four runners in the top 10 led to win with 42 points. Green Valley (59) was second and Centnenial (103) third.

Kyler Campbell was third in 14:49 and Kaleb Stumbaugh (15:19) fourth to lead Basic.

Centennial's Nick Hartle was the individual champ in 14:06, followed by teammate Billy Gravely who was second in 14:48.
