ROUNDUP: Johnson, Viking boys hold off Jaguars’ rally

Ryan Johnson scored 27 points Wednesday, and Valley’s boys basketball team held on for an 82-81 road victory over Desert Pines.

The Vikings led 57-46 going into the fourth quarter, but Desert Pines exploded for 35 points in the final quarter.

Chris Swanson had 18 points, and Caleb Carter scored 15 for Valley.

Julian Jacobs and Najee McIver each had 19 points to lead the Jaguars. Donavin Wright added 16 points, and Olajawon Digs had nine points and 12 rebounds for Desert Pines.

Cimarron-Memorial 72, Palo Verde 70 — At Palo Verde, Erik Brewer’s tip-in as time expired gave the Spartans the win over the Panthers.

Palo Verde’s Eris Winder hit a reverse layup with about 10 seconds left to tie the game, but Brewer put back Arin Henderson’s missed shot to win the game.

Brewer had 27 points, and Henderson scored 18 for Cimarron, which led 51-42 going into the fourth quarter. Deijon Spillers added 11 points for the Spartans.

Winder led Palo Verde with 24 points. Jordyn Martin added 15 points, and Nahjee Matlock scored 10 for the Panthers.

Cheyenne 54, Faith Lutheran 52 — At Faith Lutheran, Jamal Peterson scored 14 points and hit a baseline runner at the buzzer to lift the Desert Shields past the Crusaders.

Bryan Laws added 10 points for Cheyenne, which outscored Faith Lutheran 15-9 in the fourth quarter.

Sam Stevens led Faith Lutheran with 19 points, and D’Khari Hicks added 18 points for the Crusaders.

Canyon Springs 68, Eldorado 60 — At Eldorado, Shaquille Carr scored 20 of his 31 points in the second half, and the Pioneers rallied to defeat the Sundevils.

Eldorado led 40-29 at the half and 50-45 going into the fourth quarter.

Nick Scott added 12 points for Canyon Springs.

Da’Quon Thrower led Eldorado with 16 points, and teammate Jayveon Brown scored 14.

Centennial 68, Shadow Ridge 62 — At Centennial, Marcus Allen had 24 points, and twin brother Malcolm Allen scored 19 to help the Bulldogs hold off the Mustangs.

Nick Flowers and Malcolm Davis each had 18 points apiece for Shadow Ridge.

Sunrise Mountain 83, Rancho 78 — At Rancho, Fharhaad Zinnamon scored 33 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter as the Miners rallied to down the Rams.

Jovon Kirtley scored 17 points, and Derrick Love added 13 points for Sunrise Mountain, which trailed 61-55 at the end of the third quarter.

Ciaran Subira had 28 points to lead Rancho. Chris Beverly added 18 points and Ronnie Thomas scored 16 for the Rams, who also got 11 points from R’Mond Hill.

Durango 89, Spring Valley 61 — At Spring Valley, Joe Tuss scored 23 points, and Tre’Vonn Wells added 20 points as the Trailblazers downed the Grizzlies.

Tyler Watts added 14 points for Durango, which got 13 points from Tyler Jones.

DeShaun Nowlin scored 21 points and Rahfe’l King 17 for Spring Valley.

Bishop Gorman 90, Western 64 — At Gorman, Rosco Alen had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Shabazz Muhammad scored 21 points as the Gaels cruised past the Warriors.

Ben Carter had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Ronnie Stanley supplied 10 points and nine rebounds for Gorman. Gio Guzman and Noah Robotham each added nine assists for the Gaels.

Samuel Jamerson had 22 points, including six 3-pointers, for Western, and Nathan Johnson added 17 points for the Warriors.

Clark 87, Desert Oasis 48 — At Desert Oasis, Bryan McGriff and K.C. Harrison each scored 18 points as the Chargers downed the Diamondbacks.

Kentrell Washington added 13 points for Clark, which led 44-19 at the half.

Devin Fortenberry led Desert Oasis with nine points.

Legacy 67, Arbor View 48 — At Arbor View, Zach Lane had 20 points, and Chris Cook scored 18 points as the Longhorns routed the host Aggies.

Cardon Harris added 10 points for Legacy, which sprinted out to a 37-21 first-half lead.

Charles Porter scored 12 points, Justin Burks added 11 and Blake Claxton 10 for Arbor View.

Las Vegas 73, Chaparral 48 — At Las Vegas, six Wildcats scored in double figures in win over the Cowboys.

Hasaan Henderson had 14 points to lead Las Vegas. Juwan Major (13), Phil Dunigan (13), Olynsso Pratt (11), Traven Yancey (11) and Aziz Leeks (10) also scored in double digits for the Wildcats.

Chaparral’s Kevin Morgan led all scorers with 18 points.

Sierra Vista 57, Pahrump Valley 44 — At Pahrump, Sean Williams had 21 points to help the Mountain Lions top the Trojans.

Andrew White led Pahrump with 11 points, and teammate Dalton Beighley scored 10.

Bonanza 67, Virgin Valley 37 — At Bonanza, Alex Arias had 14 points, and the Bengals jumped out to an 18-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back in defeating the Bulldogs.

Carter Olsen and Marques Barnes each added 12 points for Bonanza.

Nolan Tanner paced Virgin Valley with 13 points.

Boulder City 57, Mojave 35 — At Boulder City, Kaleb Bailey scored all 14 of his points in the second quarter as part of a 24-5 surge as the Eagles routed the Rattlers.

Michael Kelso added eight points for Boulder City, which had 12 players score.

Jalon Dean, Jaishan Dean and Troy Hull each scored six points for Mojave.
