ROUNDUP: Cheyenne storms past Foothill in boys basketball

Demetric Williams scored 27 points Tuesday as Cheyenne’s boys basketball team opened the season with a 78-54 win at Foothill.

Chris McCall added 12 points for the Desert Shields, who pulled away late after taking a 50-42 lead into the fourth quarter. J’Quon Wroten added 10 points.

Kadeem Minor led Foothill with 14 points, Evan Roquemore added 13 points, and A.J. Shepard scored 10.

Mike Cutright, who transferred from Cimarron-Memorial to Cheyenne last month, did not suit up for the Desert Shields. Cutright has not yet been declared eligible to play for Cheyenne.

Eldorado 70, Legacy 66 — At Eldorado, Mitrell Clark scored 23 points and Charles White added 15 as the Sundevils held on to beat the Longhorns.

Delroy Gibbs led Legacy with 25 points, Terrell Evans added 15 points, and Ira Haywood scored 13.

Las Vegas 94, Coronado 71 — At Las Vegas, the Wildcats used a 35-11 second-quarter run to pull away and beat Coronado.

Tony Eackles Jr. scored a game-high 33 points to lead Las Vegas, which got 14 points apiece from Ahmaad Franklin and Tyree Anderson. Tanner Chauncey chipped in 10.

Brett Hoisington led Coronado with 17 points. William Wakefield had 15, and Christopher Ligon added 14.

Green Valley 56, Valley 46 — At Green Valley, Glenn Bewley had 14 points to lead the Gators past the Vikings.

David Franklin added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Gators. Green Valley’s Julian Franklin added 11 points and Austin Tebbs 10.

Valley’s Keenyn Thomas scored 11 points and Gideon Tesfai 10.

Chaparral 57, Basic 54 — At Chaparral, the Cowboys hit 8 of 10 free throws in overtime to pull away from the Wolves.

Chaparral finished 16-for-30 at the foul line, and Basic was 15-for-39.

Chris Goodloe led the Cowboys with 15 points, Jerome Young had 14, and Jermal Turner scored 10.

James Holmes scored 19 for the Wolves, who trailed 22-12 at halftime.

Desert Oasis 72, Del Sol 66 — At Desert Oasis, Cameron Mich’l scored 22 points, Cameron Jefferson had 16 points, 20 rebounds and four blocked shots, and the Diamondbacks used a 28-12 fourth-quarter advantage to rally past the Dragons.

Anthony Lianzo added 13 points for Desert Oasis, which collected the first varsity basketball win in the school’s brief history.

Del Sol was led by Anthony Martinez with 14 points and Jeff Coon with 13.

Desert Pines 88, Shadow Ridge 54 — At Shadow Ridge, senior guard Pierre Jackson scored a game-high 35 points as the Jaguars cruised past the Mustangs. 

Cliff Harrell added 14 points and Reggie Shaw chipped in 12 for Desert Pines, which drained 12 3-pointers.

Shadow Ridge’s Joseph Pearson had 20 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Marshall and Angelo Coleman each scored 10 for the Mustangs.

Liberty 72, Arbor View 63 — At Liberty, Milos Knezevic had 23 points and 21 rebounds as the Patriots edged the Aggies.

Liberty’s Kenneth Peters added 23 points.

Arbor View was led by Darrington Banks, who scored 20 points. Maiscei Grieer added 13.

Mojave 66, Rancho 41 — At Rancho, Anthony Marshall posted logged 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds as the Rattlers ran away from the Rams.

Kevin James added 17 points and 11 rebounds for Mojave. Brandon Birdsong chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Byron Bynum netted 16 points to lead Rancho. 

Canyon Springs 83, Palo Verde 80 — At Palo Verde, Michael Thompson, Chris Willis and Adrian Snow scored 16 points apiece to help the Pioneers outlast the Panthers.

Terence Stanley had 13 points and Antonio Snow added 10 for Canyon Springs.

Bryce Cotton had 21 points, Moses Morgan 15 and Bronston Abad 14 for Palo Verde.

Western 53, Centennial 48 — At Western, Dre Nash had 21 points and five steals, Anterion Cannon had 13 points, and Ehbert Talice pulled down 16 rebounds as the Warriors beat the Bulldogs.

Centennial led 39-32 entering the fourth quarter, but Western closed the game with a 21-9 run.

Centennial’s Ben Vozzola hit four three-pointers and finished with 18 points.

Boulder City 49, River Valley (Ariz.) 43 — At Boulder City, Joey Western shot 16-for-21 from the free-throw line and finished with 22 points to pace the Eagles’ win over the Dust Devils.

Alan Palesano led River Valley with 14 points, and Jon Lyman had 10.

Mountain View 68, Beatty 41 — At Beatty, Justyn Anderson had 30 points and seven steals to lead the Saints over the Hornets.

Anderson had 10 points in the third quarter as Mountain View outscored Beatty 20-3 to take a 49-27 lead.

Cortland LeBoeuf added 12 points for the Saints, and Raymond Velarde scored 10. Mountain View’s Nathan Swingle had 12 rebounds.

Henderson International 70, Laughlin 42 — At Henderson International, Rhys Appelby had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and the Wolverines built a 48-18 halftime lead in a rout of Laughlin.

Josh Young added 15 points and Danny Moerman scored 14 for Henderson International.

Andre Prosise led Laughlin with 17 points. Nick Todd added 10 points.

Indian Springs 59, Adelson School 43 — At Indian Springs, Junior Baker scored all of his 20 points in the second half as the Thunderbirds opened with a win over Adelson School.

Patrick McClain added 16 points and seven steals for Indian Springs.

Canyon View (Utah) 51, Moapa Valley 42 — At Canyon View, Utah, Shaun Hilton led Moapa Valley with 15 points, but the Pirates fell to Canyon View.

Max Jenkins added 11 points for the Pirates.

The Meadows 88, Trinity 52 — At The Meadows, Mike Wallace scored 23 points as the Mustangs routed the Thunder.

Richard Martinez added 14, Garrett Gosse 13 and Austin Brown 10 for The Meadows.

Trinity’s Budweiser Hawkins had 24 points, and Gage Neuwohner added 11.
