BOYS BASKETBALL: Nhlapo nets winner to lift Miners by Cowboys

DeShawn Nhlapo hit a 10-foot jumper with 1.8 seconds left Friday to lift Sunrise Mountain’s boys basketball team to a 50-49 home win over Chaparral.

Nhlapo, who entered the game after starter Daquwan Doyle fouled out, had only two points.

Malik Cannon led the Miners with 18 points and eight rebounds, and teammate Damon Heard scored 10.

Marc Silas had 16 points to lead Chaparral.

Legacy 59, Desert Oasis 42 — At Desert Oasis, Jacob Rainey scored 19 points, and teammate Deshaun Hilliard had 15 points as the Longhorns topped the Diamondbacks.

Deric Hammock led Desert Oasis with 19 points, and teammate Kodi Leslie scored 10.

Bishop Gorman 59, Bonanza 30 — At Bonanza, Tanner Leishman and Chase Jeter scored nine points apiece to help the Gaels cruise past the Bengals.

Deon Whiteside added seven points for Gorman, which took control early.

David Bravo and Ryan Glasper each scored seven points to lead Bonanza.

Faith Lutheran 61, Cheyenne 35 — At Cheyenne, Mitch Fulfer scored 17 points to help the Crusaders beat the Desert Shields.

John Molchon added 14 points for Faith Lutheran, which took control in the second quarter.

Daveion Wright led Cheyenne with nine points. Teammates Ulises Santillan and Jarrell Bell added eight points apiece.

Virgin Valley 49, Tech 36 — At Mesquite, Dee Bowler scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs downed the Roadrunners.

Garrett Levitt added 11 points for Virgin Valley, which only led 28-27 after three quarters.

Tyler Gardenhire led Tech with 10 points.

Desert Pines 68, Moapa Valley 42 — At Overton, Re’meake Keith scored 21 points as the Jaguars rolled past the Pirates.

Dominic Deloney added 13 points for the Jaguars.

Bunker Wimer led Moapa Valley with 14 points.

Mojave 88, Western 48 — At Mojave, Darryl Adams scored 21 points as the Rattlers routed the Warriors.

Malik Abbott and Jose Ortiz each had 15 points, and Kemario Williams scored 14 for Mojave, which outscored Western 54-20 in the middle quarters.

Kwan Carter led Western with 21 points.

Calvary Chapel 60, Lake Mead 57 — At Lake Mead, Chris Basilio hit a 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining in overtime to push the Lions past the Eagles.

The Lions trailed the Eagles by seven in the fourth quarter, but forced turnovers on each of Lake Mead’s final four possessions of regulation.

Basilio led all scorers with 18 points. Matthew Harney had 13 points, and Quentin Hanks scored 12 for the Lions, who also got 10 points from Killian Diers.

Brandon LeBaron had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles, and teammate Dylan Graham scored 17.

Mountain View 56, Lincoln County 49 — At Panaca, Connor LeBoeuf poured in 26 points to help the Saints top the Lynx.

McClain O’Connor had 12 points for Lincoln County.

Pahranagat Valley 63, Sandy Valley 34 — At Alamo, Wade Leavitt scored 15 points to help the Panthers down the Sidewinders.

Christian Higbee added 12 points, and Tabor Maxwell scored 11 for Pahranagat Valley.

Lane Eastham led Sandy Valley with 14 points.
