BOYS BASKETBALL: Burks, Aggies rally to down Wolves in overtime

Justin Burks’ layup with three seconds remaining forced overtime, and Arbor View’s boys basketball team hit 15 free throws in the extra period Monday en route to an 87-76 win at Basic.

Burks finished with 33 points, and Charles Porter added 17 points for the Aggies, who also got 12 points from Isaiah Simmons and 11 points from Terrell Butler.

The Aggies trailed 41-28 at the half, but battled back and trailed 70-68 when the Wolves were called for an offensive foul with 12 seconds left. Arbor View finished 34 of 56 on free throws, compared to Basic’s 10 of 23.

Antraye Johnson led the Wolves with 31 points, and teammate Aaron Hiedeman scored 13.

Desert Oasis 70, Boulder City 63 — At Desert Oasis, Rodrick Moore led three double-figure scorers with 18 points, and the Diamondbacks rallied in the second half to top the Eagles.

Kodi Leslie had 15 points, and Deric Hammock scored 14 for Desert Oasis, which trailed 30-29 at halftime. Teammate Jay Esguerra added six points, nine steals, eight assists and six rebounds.

Tyler Newby paced Boulder City with 11 points.

Valley 68, Cheyenne 42 — At Cheyenne, Spencer Mathis finished with 23 points, and Cameron Burton added 21 points as the Vikings overwhelmed the Desert Shields.

Valley led 39-18 at halftime and outscored Cheyenne 25-11 in the third quarter.

Javon Peterson led the Desert Shields with 10 points.

Virgin Valley 66, Lincoln County 43 — At Mesquite, Trevor Robison hit four 3-pointers and had 19 points to lead the Bulldogs by the Lynx.

Dillon Graves added 13 points, and Nathan Hughes scored 12 for Virgin Valley, which got 11 assists from Dee Bowler.

Derek Shumway had 18 points, and McClain O’Connor scored 12 for Lincoln County.

Rancho 65, Pahrump Valley 22 — At Rancho, David McKeever scored 20 points as the Rams routed the Trojans.

Jaylin Gaston added 10 points for Rancho, which led 52-13 at the half.

Jerrod Richardson had six points for Pahrump.

Spring Mountain 58, Word of Life 52 — At Saville Middle School, Harlow Hawkins had 17 points, and Ny’Zhawn Bennett added 15 points and 15 rebounds as the Golden Eagles downed the Eagles.

Christian Harris had 14 points, and George Brown scored 12 for Spring Mountain.

Elijah Hoye had 22 points, and Isaiah Manabat added 16 points for Word of Life, which got 14 points from Edoziem Okafor.
