SOFTBALL: Thompson’s double lets Trailblazers slip past Arbor View

Keely Thompson’s double to left-center with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Trinity Valentine with the winning run as host Durango’s softball team nipped Arbor View, 3-2 on Saturday.

The Trailblazers drew two walks to start the bottom of the seventh. Consecutive fielder’s choices left runners at first and second with two outs for Thompson, who picked up her second hit of the game.

Claudina Luna also went 2-for-3 for Durango.

Kellie Anderson was 2-for-3 for the Aggies.

Basic 8, Lee Williams (Ariz.) 3 — At Kingman, Arizona, Mikayla Berg homered, doubled and drove in five runs to lead the Wolves by the Volunteers in the championship game of the Coca-Cola Invitational.

Bailey Cunanan tripled and drove in a run for Basic, which led 8-0 after two innings.

Basic 8, Lake Havasu (Ariz.) 7 — At Kingman, Arizona, Sanoe Helenini singled home Lauren Powell with the winning run with no outs in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Wolves edged the Knights in a semifinal of the Coca-Cola Invitational.

Powell started the inning on second base under international tiebreaker rules. Cunanan’s single put runners at the corners for Helenini, who ended the game with her hit. Helenini and Cunanan each had two RBIs for Basic.

Basic 16, Kingman (Ariz.) 0 — At Kingman, Arizona, Lexie Edmunds went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs and tossed a five-inning five-hitter with six strikeouts as the Wolves routed the Bulldogs in the Coca-Cola Invitational.

Helenini and Morales each homered and had three RBIs for Basic.

Shadow Ridge 12, Cimarron-Memorial 2 — At Cimarron, Kate Dennis was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and five RBIs to help the Mustangs top the Spartans in six innings.

Samantha Milanovich was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, and Raelyn Kendall went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Alisha Schultz was 3-for-4 for the Mustangs.

Diona Whitley had a two-run home run for Cimarron.

Coronado 8, Wilson (Calif.) 3 — At Torrance, California, Tatum Spangler threw a five-inning three-hitter and went 3-for-4 with a double as the Cougars downed the Bruins in the 11th-place game of the Torrance National Tournament.

Jaiden Johnson was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Ashley Ward went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Coronado, which led 7-1 after two innings.

Edison (Calif.) 8, Coronado 0 — At Torrance, California, Stanford-bound Kiana Pancino spun a five-inning one-hitter and struck out nine to lead the Chargers over the Cougars in a Silver Bracket semifinal of the Torrance National Tournament.

Edison scored three runs in the fourth to break a scoreless tie.

Faith Lutheran 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Calleen Ryan threw a five-inning six-hitter and struck out six to help the Crusaders top the Pirates in the Crusader Invitational.

Claire Peck was 1-for-2 with a solo home run, and Clara Heislen went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Mercedes Gale went 2-for-2, and Kessa Evans and Lainey Cornwall each went 2-for-3 for Moapa Valley.

Faith Lutheran 12, Tech 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Haley Jack spun a two-hitter and went 2-for-2 with a double as the Crusaders defeated the Roadrunners in three innings in the Crusader Invitational.

Mosie Foley was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and Samantha Jack went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Peck went 2-for-2 with a double.

Faith Lutheran 11, Bonanza 1 — At Faith Lutheran, Samantha Jack went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs as the Crusaders topped the Bengals in the Crusader Invitational.

Ellie Fried was 3-for-3, and Peck, Erin Gilchrist and Haley Jack each went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Faith Lutheran.

Ashlee McKenna was 2-for-2 for Bonanza.

Sierra Vista 13, Western 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Kalei Watkins tossed a four-inning no-hitter as the Mountain Lions topped the Warriors in the Crusader Invitational.

Western 14, Chaparral 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Makalita Moeaki spun a four-inning two-hitter and went 2-for-4 as the Warriors downed the Cowboys in the Crusader Invitational.

Alexis Moeaki was 2-for-2 for Western.

Tech 8, Bonanza 2 — At Faith Lutheran, the Roadrunners topped the Bengals in five innings in the Crusader Invitational.

Caitlyn Lloyd homered and doubled for Bonanza.

Desert Hills (Utah) 8, Boulder City 5 — At St. George, Utah, the Thunder scored five runs in the top of the seventh to rally by the Eagles in the championship game of the March Warm-Up tournament.

Bryanna Lopez had three hits, and Kylee Hamel added two hits for Boulder City, which scored all of its runs in the fourth inning.

Boulder City 15, Park City (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Charlene Masterson and Bailey Bennett-Jordan combined on a three-inning no-hitter as the Eagles routed the Miners in the March Warm-Up tournament.

Jerra Hinson had three hits and two RBIs, and Marleena Mills added three hits for Boulder City.

Boulder City 13, Delta (Utah) 2 — At St. George, Utah, Bennett-Jordan spun a six-inning three-hitter as the Eagles routed the Rabbits.

Jeanne Carmell had four hits, and Bennett-Jordan and Hamel each had three hits for Boulder City, which got four RBIs from Mills.
